wtf is with these crafting times?
i know people talk about how quick it takes to craft armor vs how long to craft a melee weapon, but how about gun verses gun?
ak-47 legendary takes 53 seconds.
autoshotgun legendary takes 25 MINUTES!!
im spec'ed into shotguns, and nothing into machine guns. why is it so damn long?

The damage variety is a lot smaller as in A20 and before. So building them once is enough except for those max-player where everything needs to be super-ultimate-maxed ;-)

Yep, welcome to Version 1.0.

Not that big a deal to me. but I get it.

I think it's so long because they are the best possible weapons. The best items should need the longtest time to create.

You create those weapons 1 time so is it really a big deal?

And points into shotguns or anything like that don't affect the time on the workbench.

oh, didnt realize ak wasnt the end for machineguns. i dont use them. i guess it would be fair to compare to the same level then.

If you're really impatient and just want items, you can spawn them in using the cheat mode. 25 minutes is nothing though, after a couple thousand hours into the game you'll realize how futile complaining about a couple minutes here and there is.

Distract yourself with mining or building for a bit and you'll have your item before you know it.

i have a few thousand hours int the game. and like you said i went and distracted myself. i did think the ak was the highest tier because in all that time i have NEVER gone machine gun, because holy crap the ammo loss. so i thought i was comparing two of the same level ,but i wasnt.

so annoying but not unreasonable. what is anouying is how useless augers are now. unless you just want screamers and nothing else. then its really good.

Actually, machine guns don't 'have' to be ammo hogs. I usually add a 'semi-auto' mod to mine. One trigger pull = one round or 3 if going for the burst mod. I do this to build my own 'sniper' (type) rifle cuz I don't like shortage of rounds for a magazine of the game's 'sniper rifle.' You can (almost) make your own sniper rifle this way that has a 30 (aprox.) round magazine and shoots just about same distance--using long barrel mod.

I do the same thing with SMGs, short bursts, right to the face, you can take out a huge number of zombies with just one mag if you can aim. Maybe that's the issue there...

I like to do it (made to good distance with lots of rounds) with one of each type wpn... so, one that uses 9mm ammo, one for shotgun shells, etc. Then I can switch it up which wpn I take with me that day. Getting low on one ammo type, oh well, switch to one of the others for this excursion.

Given how much ammo you'll get looting, especially if you focus on doing Infested missions, you should be swimming in ammo. I had to start selling the stuff and crafting ammo seemed pointless aside from making AP/ Hi power rounds. I even started selling raw brass because of how much ammo I'd loot.

But yeah, the AK is pistol tier. There's a tactical AR-15 style gun after that and the top tier one is an M60. With how damage typically scales, I struggle to see a point to the sniper rifle classification as crossbows deal close enough damage, have better ammo types and better sneak damage multiplier. There's no real purpose to the sniper weapons if you ask me. One of the machine gun tier weapons does things better.

for snipers they penetrate, saw GNS do a base set up were he could head shot 5 zombies with one shot. but out side that i agree. maybe more use in multiplayer or when bandits come out.

as for ammo amount this version, yes ammo is freaking everywhere. its to the point im getting less worried about screamers because i have ammo to spare. but i have been playing 7d2d off and on since steam early access started.

i just got the high teir machine gun (forgot designation/name) and am about to see how much of my 2 storage chest worth of 762 i can go through on horde night. also while typing i remembered now we can upgrade storage so probably didnt need two.

I will say it is a lot of fun to sit on top of a base and snipe wandering zombies, and it's also a useful tool for hunting if you don't want to scare the animal away, or you just want to explode the head of a zombie bear from a safe distance. I'd never use a sniper in any POI though, and never during a horde night defending my base.

Yeah, but I can get the same effect from a crossbow with a 4x while also getting the 3.5x sneak damage instead of the 1.5x. You also get access to flaming and explosive rounds instead of just Hi Power or AP.

Sure, you can get the same effect from eating stale bread as you would nice fluffy garlic bread, but the difference is preference. It exists as an option for those who do enjoy it. If you don't like stale bread, make some garlic bread. The world is your oyster.

My point is that they really need to come up with something unique about them to make them stand out more. As is, the damage they deal isn't much better than a machine gun setup for sniping and those still have the ability to go automatic. Maybe have a high explosive 7.62 that only fits in the rifles? Personally, I think they need to change the ammo type to a new one unique from the machine guns. Only logical step to me though is making it a .50 cal, but that seems overkill.
