Microsoft/Xbox ownership
So, if I'm reading it right, I have to buy 7days AGAIN on Xbox, to own it again?

How about no. How about I get my original purchase back since you've not actually delivered the game to me in its completed state on that platform. I don't want your scuzzy discount, which would mean I still pay more than I did originally when it first launched there!

I don't own the new Xbox consoles, I don't plan to get one so this discount is absolutely worthless to me. I'll be raising this with microsoft themselves and demanding a refund, which will likely be thrown back in my face with plenty of legalise explaining how I can't do ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about it.

If this is true you've got some brass neck forcing your customers into a secondary purchase of a game they've already paid into once. Whats even more insulting, is its likely going to be free on the game-pass!

Console gamers buys remakes of games all the time. Plus they used to rebuild games on the newest consoles. You should be used to it.

Console owners buying more expensive console games = I'm fine.
Console owners buying more expensive console remasters = I'm fine.
Console players buying a released 7dtd game = I'm NAT fine!

I've already bought it. Even with the 25% discount on the £50 price I would pay £37.50.
Now factor in the £25 I paid when it first came out that comes to £62.50.

I will have paid MORE, but I should be okay with that?

Edit: I'm bad at math

Would be a bit odd, if a company you didn't buy from would deliver you a product.

For further reading, the second pinned thread.

I do understand your frustration on an empathic level.
But the topic has been discussed over and over - and one could use the existing threads to get a fact based opinion on things.

And with a just a bit of a level headed sight on the topic, one should come to terms with it.

Nothing here happens just to screw you over.

I'd never buy this game for console in the first place, same with Fallout or Elder Scrolls games, the lack of proper mod support or any mod support is too much of a loss. All 3 of those games/series are all far superior on pc just because of modability and are a waste of money on a console imo.

I mean how much gameplay have you gotten out of it? people pay far more for AAA games that don't even have 10 hours of gameplay and are fine with it. I paid I think 28 canadian for the game back in a10.2 and I have 9600+ hours in 7dtd, best 28 dollars I ever spent on videogames period. Why do I got so much playtime? because the game is modable, there are some massive overhauls like Darkness Falls, Age of Oblivion and others that completly change the game in many good ways, add new tiers of items and enemies, even redo the skill system at times. Darkness Falls for example adds about 4.5-5 gb of content to the game in models and textures etc. It also completly changes how difficulty works, how food/water works, changes the weapons around everything. It even has an actual story as does age of oblivion.

Yeah its not a remake its a downgrade other than graphics as the gameplay is honestly not really any better possibly even worse than it was in the old console version. Well almost. console had a15 and a15 had that stupid learn by doing thing that determined craft quality, that was removed in alpha 16 and it was made level locked perks instead, but I don't think console ever got a16.4?

Not that it justifies it but I have over 1000 hours on xbox. I bought it there because I enjoyed it on PC and only other bud who wanted to play, had xbox only. I recommend they got it and played it till Tell-tale went under. We put it down because we knew it wouldn't be getting any updates for a long while.

Correct me someone if I am wrong, but if you bought a previous one with the telltale people then your contract/license is with them and not TFP and thus the previous version not being "TFP Property" at the time of your purchase.

It's kind of like you buy a coffee at McDonalds then go to Starbucks trying to get them to replace it.

the people that sold you the game on Xbox are no longer in business. Fun pimps sold the rights to them and they sold it to you.
so take it up with the guy you got it from.
If you bought a car a decade ago and it was a chevy and a new model came out do you get to get the new one for free even though you bought it from someone else a decade ago?

learn by doing is amaziing... otherwise you can just mine your way to better gear and what sense does that make?
saice Jul 25, 2024 @ 8:32am
So I mean not to get all business but the original port to console was owned by a different company and it took a lot of work for TFP to get the console rights back. They actually don't own that original version and as such can't push updates to it. Sure they might be able to harvest the recorded from a closed company to confirm who actually owns the game but I don't think Telltale has any real reason to give those up or put in the work to get those records in order if they wanted to.

And it is a New product as fair as Xbox and Sony see it so they have pay a cut to them for every copy. Even if they were to give you a copy free MS and Sony still want their cut.

Yes it sucks but sadly its less about FTP being greedy and more about how MS and Sony do business and about how crappy IP law is.
