I mean its V1.0 but nothing says that V1.1 will not require a new save
I'd bet. There's no way bandits can get implemented without wipes. Unless they're legit gonna be re skinned zombies without fortresses or bases, etc. Other features like weather may or may not break it but even that I suspect would.
Not crapping on your parade here, I wish the same as you. Just the chance to play a long one, have the latest and greatest forever. Not yet I fear!
If you want future content, which is definitely planned, you will probably have to start a new game to get the new stuff. But that will be your optional choice at that time.
your save isnt lost. its simply not compatible with the new version like always. if your save was in a21 you have to revert to a21 to play it again. in order to get the a22 (1.0) changes you need to start over.
There's always a possibility that a save game from unstable experimental or older version will not carry forward. Especially if you were using any mods.
My game I started on the second day of the experimental is working fine in 1.0 (no mods).
btw - The game generally doesn't "wipe" old saves. Old incompatible saves will just not be loadable from the continue game menu. The game world is still on your system.
