Zombie spawn question
Never truly knew the answer to this.

Do zombies spawn in areas where the player is not? For example: I leave base with forges and workstations blazing away. I go to the next town or even farther. Will zombies spawn and/or be triggered by my base/workstations even if no players are near that area?

I don’t seem to ever recall coming back home to things being smashed up. Could be wrong. Was wondering if anyone knew exactly how this mechanic works.

Although I loved the idea of a wandering horde following me where I've been, I think this was done 100% for performance reasons.
