Cloth farming (not actual farming) question
Anyone know a good way to get cloth in 1.0? I can keep up with cloth for just the regular crafting but I wanted to start making explosive arrows and they take 1 tape per each arrow which is pretty darn expensive when you factor in everything else.

Put a single point in Living off the land (or not, depends on amount of cloth you need) and go collect cotton plants in the wild, then craft cotton into cloth.

Another option is to scrap as many cars with a wrench as possible with salvage operations as high as possible.

make sure you're also destroying clothing and garbage piles in buildings too.

The medical tents in some POI's are the best source I've found so far.

Harvest curtains in buildings with a knife.

Use an axe on the large beds. Some window coverings give cloth, others plastic.

Okay, thanks for all the tips guys.

I'll start trying some of these things.

There's a rolled-carpet block worth about 50 cloth per meter. I've seen it in a tier 1 construction site (the one where the Screamer comes out of the top floor).

This is the number one quickest and most reliable way of getting cloth. With a decent knife, it just takes one poke to get like 3 or 4 cloth per unit of curtain. Houses tend to have a lot of them. Hotels and motels, too.

Also, if you have a salvaging tool, take apart any bed that you see. They yield a lot of cloth this way. Cots and bunk beds are even better because places like barracks or community refuges tend to have a lot of them in one area and they barely take any time to disassemble.

Most importantly though is to just get in the habit of constantly collecting cloth when you're out exploring and get familiar with time investment vs. cloth yield. Couches and chairs for whatever reason barely give you any cloth and have a lot of hit points, so they're not worth the time at all to harvest.

They changed this? That's good news, because I seem to recall getting barely any cloth from those in the past. And before that, they just gave you wood.

the big thing to remember with this game is that -everything- can be harvested for materials, so look at anything you see in world as a potential source of resources :)
Need cloth? All the suggestions here are great. Plastic? window blinds, garbage bins, dump carts, tires etc. Paper? junk piles, cardboard boxes

its all fair game :)

If the Aldos Cabinets (or something like that) POI is still in the game (havent seen it in a while now that I think about it), thats a low tier poi and gives a decent amount of cloth.

The poi name escapes me, the "sporting goods" place...mid tier but lots of clothes in big front room to get cloth from as well.

I always put a point into Living off the Land, and after I've farmed up a stack of most ingredients with a dozen seeds for each, I'll plant Cotton. It's a quick and easy stack of Cloth every couple days. Usually at that point I have nothing else to do with Water other than make Glue anyways.
