With 1.0 Will they ever return to a focus on PVP?
I fell in love with the game years ago PVE, and after a while, I explored PVP servers for a "change of pace", PVE is fun, but it has its limits, adding a variable of random encounters with players on a map, alongside the fact that not everything is now lootable (since it might have been recently looted), Hidden player made bases, and obviously an on-going ever changing map as people players built/destroyed stuff.

I know that they said PVP wasnt a focus and only ever a side product of what players could make out of their PVE focus -
Will this change now that 1.0 is being released and with console releases, do you think they will try to explore a little down PVP, or am i getting false hopes?

No. PVP anything was only added as a side thing. The game isnt balanced in anyway for pvp and likely never will. Once 1.0 happens you might look and see what mods people make though, likely some will make stuff just for pvp.

Why should they change their focus at 1.0?
That's something you should do during EA, but not at full release. Most of the playerbase expect this game to be a PVE game now and balancing it around pvp will defintly lower the quality for pve. Check games where both is possible like ARK as example.

PvP is still an option and you will find servers with this enabled, but don't epxect it will ever be focused on.

That's just the way the game is built. It's open ended enough that if you actually want to kill your fellow humans, you'll have to go out of your way to do it, or just under the right circumstances. You can't make PvP fun in games like these because of it's progression system. And I really don't want to see players getting into forum p*ssing matches about why X weapon or Perk needs to be nerfed to the ground because they got jumped by someone who simply put more hours into the game than they did. PvP is fine where it's at, either deal with it or find something else to scratch your competitive itch.

Nope, the game engine is a poor fit for PVP

They have discussed PvP as a separate mode but I doubt they will do anything to create options or settings to make the game more PvP fit until they've completed their released roadmap goals.

In my opinion, for PvP to be fair and balanced, they would need to remove most of the RPG-centric character progression. There is too much disparity between a newly spawned player and a player who has dozens of hours on the server gearing up and increasing in HP and Stamina and perk benefits. There is no zoning to force players to only compete against others of similar power. Alpha 10 was the last version that had zero RPG elements involved.

I have about 2000 hours pvp, it was a janky hackfest last time I played which was years ago. My 2 cents.
