Trader progression question 1.0

Okay so I want to live in the desert. Do I have to quest my way there or could I just speed run t1 to get the bike and then just head of into the desert and start my base close to the desert trader?

Or does that break some kind of progression in 1.0?

Yes you can do that, no issues.

I did exactly that, started in the forest biome, did quests for trader Rekt till i got the bicycle and then moved to the burned forest near trader Jen to build my base.
And she had quests starting at tier 2 since i unlocked that tier with Rekt.

But I am talking about ignoring Jen in burnt forest

You can, but the quest trade routes will still make you go back to Jen to progress that. Easy to do though. but that's only limiting factor. once you do the opening first quest from trader you can in turn move to wasteland if ya wanted to.

They still haven't changed how Buried supply quests work either, so can push those really easy for first two tiers. Dig the area first before starting the quest, I normally just dig out from center 8 blocks, then ramp down to rock and clear that line just to the !. Then you dig in a circle make a 3x3 at rock level only. once done activate quest, and you'll prolly be staring at the loot box, or sometimes just barely in the dirt still if tier 2. makes for fast 1-2 hr turn around for buried supply quests.

That sounds like more digging than just activate the quest and dig from the start

There is no "progression" in the game. It's a pure sandbox, so you do whatever you want. You can run to any biome the very second you start in without even doing the tutorial quest.
