Does this game have a story to follow?

Wondering if this is just a sandbox type of game without any clear goal, or if there is a story to follow kind of like The Forrest and such?
Game looks interesting, but I'm after something with a clear finish/end (even if its possible to continue playing afterwards)

There currently is not a clear finish/end. There is something of an environmental story to follow if you pay close attention to the POI's you explore and the miscellaneous stuff around town, and the start of a story in the form of the note you begin with and commentary from traders. But a proper story isn't in just yet. And when it is in, it'll almost definitely be a "you can keep sandboxing afterwards" kinda story.

The newly posted roadmap has story mode earmarked for Q4 2025, but it's a rough estimate and subject to change.

No story yet. There's supposed to be one added in for the final finished game. There are some clues here n there that 'kind of' introduce some story elements. Just not fleshed out yet. It's pretty much Sandbox.

Edit: Yeah... this added nothing really. Shurenai beat me to the punch on the 'Enter' key, lol.
