Turning off generators in POI
I'm seeing in several POIs there are running generators, and seeing a number of places where there are things like steel doors that look like their attached or wired to these generators. What I'm not seeing is a way to interact with either these generators or switches nearby to do what I presume would be to open a lock.

What I have been able to do is salvage the generators, then hit a switch, then get access to the goods. The problem is that either generators, walls, or doors seem to have many thousands of hp. I read some posts that seem to indicate that I should be able to hit 'E' to turn off then generator (probably spawning a horde in the process).

All of the A21 POIs seem to have a "main path" of unlocked doors or easy blockers (puzzle, button, jump, etc) that's set to maximize jump scares and scripted spawn points. Not a fan, but product decisions be product decisions. When there's a generator involved, I can't seem to find the "I'm supposed to do this" button and end up breaking out the salvage tools.

Is this a bug? Am I missing something?

Context: long time player with lots (and lots) of hours A5-A19, and returning to A21.

Tip:
I always carry wood and scrap me, so when I get to a place that's straight out of a bad horror trope, I drop a couple barbed wire fences before hitting the button or opening the door. Or, step into the room, "scare", step back and fence. Makes these rooms a lot easier.

I believe what you're seeing are POI's designed for 'restore power quests' where the player has to power on (interact) with a generator(s) in order to complete the quest, and you can only interact with them when you are doing quests associated with that specific POI. As you have experienced, you can still loot these POI's and come across generators and doors but they don't do anything and they are only there for cosmetics/quests.

There are different types of quests and one of them are called 'restore power quests'. The restore power quests are the only type of quest that opens/allows/requires an interaction from generators and the others do not.

Traders will offer different types of quests but each type requires a certain 'trader stage' before they are offered to the player. Restore power quests are offered as early as tier 2. So long as your player level is high enough and you have completed all of Tier 1 jobs for that specific trader.

I've done several restore power quests. I'm familiar with them.

As a specific example, there's a checkpoint POI where the final stash is in a locked steel room. There's a button on the outside of the room, and a generator nearby. Clearly I'm supposed to interact with the button and the generator to open the door. But the only ways I've been able to get in are by either tearing down a wall / door or tearing down the generator, which allows me to hit the button and open the door. Both paths involve a lot of repeated swinging and clanking for quite a while.

So what you're saying is that the normal path through to the stash might only work in a restore power quest, and I'm trying to clear the POI while not on a trader quest. But that seems weird that the only way I can "normally" loot a POI is while on a quest.

No. What I'm saying is that you can't interact with POI generators unless they are part of a restore power quest. Other than that, there is no option to interact with them.

In your example, you are doing too much. You don't need to tear down the generator or any wall at all. They don't do anything. Just hit the switch to open the door and that's it. I think you may be overthinking this whole generator thing lol.

Here; I believe this is the POI you used as an example, correct?

I hit the switch next to the steel door where the main stash is at and it opened it. I opened the doors covering the generator but I only did that for the sake discussion. Again, there is no need to interact with the generator at all.

Yes. Except I don't get the prompt to hit 'E' while the generator exists. That's the first thing I tried because that's what I thought I was "supposed" to do.

After I salvage the generator, THEN I get the prompt to hit 'E' on the switch.

Yeah, that's weird if the 'E" prompt isn't coming up because the generator has nothing to do with the switch at all. It's not even tied to the switch in any way --- (I checked restore quests, non-quests, and POI prefab editor).

Yeah, I don't know. The only other things I can think of is;
1) Do you have you have any mods installed?

2) Did you start this save file in an older version? (meaning did you start the save in A21.0 and it updated to A21.1 and then A21.2 on the same save)

3) The save file got corrupted somehow.
