In my opinion the more difficult-to-open containers should have something like a Gamestage Bonus, so that if you invest your time there, at least it won't be totaly worthless.
I'm really liking dense city maps people are using lately on public servers. magazines are non issue there. Not to mention many more cop cars and atms.
I generally take the time to open the safes as I find them most of the time. Yeah, takes forever but I play slow paced, no rush to level up games.
I believe the parking meters only give you a few coins, like 13 max? I save my wrench for electrical parts that add up for a lot of coin, or important materials.
there are better objects. Petrol stations or broken vending machines.

In the early game (with only a few lock picks) only T4 and T5 chests or ATMs (police car idk) make sense to open. to break it open...i would say only T4 or T5 chests above night but never a safe (only if you dont have anything else to do).
You only need one lockpick, as long as you have candy
