7 Days to Die

Assistance with Dedicated Servers?
The simple explanation is, I believe I have everything set up correctly, router port forwarded and 26900 port access open, for the server to run and be accessible via IP for myself and some friends. However; while we've tested, and joining a single player game hosted from in 7 days to die itself on my machine allows them to join, running the dedicated server does not work the same way.

Running on a Windows machine; what differences would allow direct steam-to-steam joining, but not IP-joining? I can't even join it, myself, using the public IP from my router; 127.0.0.1, and the internal IP are fine.

I've tried some other games with similar effects; direct-hosting through steam is fine, but accessing a running server with ports open and forwarded isn't even registering; no console messages about denied access or anyone even hitting the server to be rejected.

Some more notes:
- contacted help for my router; spent about 2 hours the other night confirming that it should be set up correct.
- contacted my ISP. They pretty quickly dismissed the idea of blocking any ports' traffic. Seemed to be a pretty quick response, though.
- I have networking rules for public/private/domain access open to both 26900, AND a separate rule for the same across any port if it's for the dedicated server.exe (TCP+UDP)

Maybe the windows firewall is holding you back...not the router one, check the Windows internet access for 7d2d.... windows it selfs might ♥♥♥♥ it up...when i use a new program or game, and it needs i-net connection windows pops up a litle screen with if that game or program is allowed to make use of the net...might be it, might be wrong..i hope it helps..good luck

are you using the steam client to launch the server software? might be that if you run it by itself, without steam, it doesn't connect with steam networking, resulting in it basically cut off from multiplayer.
also make sure it runs with administrator privileges, and that it actually has a world readily loaded.
singleplayer saves and joining can have long loading times, and so does the server. maybe you didn't give it enough time to load, or it was just in standby / menu mode, waiting for console inputs to actually select and load a world?
that's the only other thing that might come to mind. or joining without anticheat maybe

great job on eliminating router problems btw

Since I didn't receive a reply back til now, I didn't update:
I resolved it, somehow. lol
I've had a couple games being server-d up since this was posted in December. I think this particular one was an old, old firewall setting I had established in years past that conflicted with it.

Otherwise, I'm ok, now!

good :D
it's always good to post if you managed to resolve that issue, even if it takes some time. that way, if someone else has the same problem as you, they will also have the solution.

relevant XKCD for what i mean:

I'm one of those people that gets infinitely frustrated unless I get unfixed-problems out of my mind. It's just a defense mechanism to ignore and forget about some of the threads I post when no-one is actively around or worse: when people are actively not helping.
