The penetrator perk function
Ok, so i ignore a percentage of armor, cool.

"% on anything with Target Armor reduction"

What does that mean, what are things with Target Armor reduction?

It means that you use the higher value for ignoring armour when using a weapon that inherently reduces target armour, anyway.

Spears, steel arrows, and any firearm using AP ammo, basically.

So when using firearms or archery but 'not AP stuff' you get the lower value (10%/!5%/15%/20%).

If you're using a melee weapon that isn't a spear, you get no benefit at all.

When using 'AP stuff' you get the higher value (20%/30%/40%/50%) which gets added to the inherent armour penetration value of the base weapon/ammo.

This means that fully perked and using AP ammo or a steel spear, you completely ignore armour.

I'm not certain on the mechanics and math that goes with the perk, but a rifle with AP (preferably extend mag sniper) on horde night is pretty effective if you build a hallway or anything to make them line up.

Some zombies are considered as "armored" and have a damage reduction - like the bikers, for instance.

Furthermore, I'm still unsure if the armor applies to the entire zombie, or just the actual armored part. Bikers, Soldiers and Construction Workers all have helmets that make a tink sound when you hit it. Obviously that would make sense to armor their weak point. But is the rest of their body considered armored as well?

Regardless, I actually tried investing into Penetrator for the first time on my current playthrough as well as long rifles. I'm unsure how much of a benefit it is, but my sniper rifle is a beast. Four points into rifles and three into Penetrator and I'm two shotting feral bikers on insane difficulty. Still need to craft some more AP rounds so I can actually make use out of the perk. I tried them out on horde night, and they do really well, but not nearly as well as my shotgun.
