New Empty* ammo boxes on pallet
Hi
Ran across these today in the new POI Shotgun Messiah /Gun range . These look like a stack of boxes of ammo, green in color on a green pallet sometimes with a cloth cover. Similar to pallets, like say building materials. Which if hit with proper weapon, like say pallet of bricks hit with stone axe will get more stone, sand bags hit with shovel will give you better sand...

So anyway, the question:

Can these new ammo green pallets with ammo crates, boxes all stacked together, can they be hit with a specific tool to yield more ... say random ammo? Or are these just fro show and can be only broken down for scrap metal.

I tried the shovel, pick, my stone axe, and a wrench and nothing really worked to help yield anything but scrap metal.

Just scrap metal. And, it doesn't matter which tool you use to harvest something... you still only get the same amount of materials, +/- a few sometimes. The tool just makes a difference on how long it takes to break something down. For example, a stone axe will take a bunch of chops to chop down a tree but, a fireman axe will cut it down with less swings. However, the total amount of wood you get from that tree will be pretty close to the same regardless which tool you used. I say pretty close cuz there is a very small random factor in there. Like sometimes a chop might yield 2 wood while another chop yields 3 wood. So, in the end, due to this little randomness, the totals might be slightly off from each test tree.

Try using a wrench on different things in the game.

There is that exception. There's two different animations when using the wrench. One... where you are swinging and smashing something. Two... where you are turning it as if removing a bolt. If the first use of a wrench on an item gives you the swing animation... stop. Don't bother putting wear an tear on your wrench cuz another tool will do it as well (or better) and give you the same yields. But, you should check everything till you know which items the wrench gives you the second animation. Cuz, if it's giving the second animation (removing a bolt) then it means you can get additional materials from the object that other tools will not give. Guess I should have mentioned that to begin with. So, THX @Oktokolo for bringing that up.

Edit: Also... Ratchet works same as wrench.
