How to make/craft slopes or stairs?

with your Shapes block in your hand hold R to bring up the wheel and the top option is to select shapes

Basically you make a building block , like in the tutorial, then while holding the block you hold R which brings up a menu - select block, copy block and various other options.

I believe it should be the 'reload' button that you hold down to bring up the radial menu.
