Where do Zombies spawn at Horde Night, and how to manipulate it ?
I have built a rather large base and was standing in one corner when i noticed after some waves and moving that they actually spawned inside my base in a closed room.

How can I avoid this ? Anyone knows the spawning parameters and how one could manipulate them to their preference ?

They spawn, if I recall, 30 blocks of the player, from a random direction. The only way to really manipulate that is to have a kill-base with a smaller radius. Walls and obstacles / traps do nothing to mitigate this if they are further out than that, and land claim blocks only prevent the original sleeper respawns.

they can spawn just about anywhere. But do so 30-50 blocks away form you. But if you base is large enough that can be inside your base.

So you are doing a mix use base where you have a crafting area and a horde night fighting post. Make sure the distance from your fighting post is at max 30 blocks from the other side of your base.

This can be super annoying if you dug a moat around your base because if it overlaps into the spawn area for the horde they can spawn down inside the moat and will dig they way out of it to get to you.

this really sucks.
Not only is it unrealistic for them to spawn inside rooms in your base, but it prevents a lot creativity in base building , especially grand buildings.

I would prefer Some kind of Flag to set where Zombies are supposed to spawn. I know it sounds cheezy but its a sandbox game after all.
Make it a Dev/Cheat Item to place for people like me

You are talking about a game with zombies
One you at store 20+ 4x4's in your pocket
a game that eating candy and jumping off a 20 story building is safe

But this is why most people either make smaller mix bases, Make two bases one for crafting and one for horde night, or put their bases up on stilts to make the zombies all run to the one path up.

They can't spawn on player placed blocks so you can kind of manipulate where they spawn but the direction will stay be somewhat random. This will also alter the kind of spawns you get to more birds if you decide to pave over a very very large amount of land. The only way they can appear inside closed rooms is if you were somewhat underground and they rag doll glitch through the wall. I've seen them glitch through as much as 2 full block thick walls but this is on a vertical block and never through any horizontal walls.

This is mostly true you can lay down blocks to cover the ground. But I've learned from my own hubris that if you cover all of their valid spawn area they will just spawn anyways.

If you want a large, grand, expansive, wonderful base... then build a small, easily defend-able, easily repaired and upgraded HORDE BASE far enough away from your magnificent one that you don't have to worry. I love building and I love fighting hordes... the two are not incompatible. Just warp your brain a bit away from that one base ever thought process and it will be just fine.

yea sure i do still this is extremely limiting in your building options. they literally dictate you to make your base less than 30x30 blocks large

They do spawn on your blocks , as i said , they spawned inside a closed room of my base. floor, walls and ceiling of beton.

They only spawn on ground level tho, right ? maybe levitating the whole building could help ill try
