Is it possible to disarm land mines, pot mines, etc.?

Just encountered some booby traps in an ex-survivor's attic, and after some zombies walked over them, I thought I'd pick the un-exploded ones up. Not possible?

i know it use to be possible right away but i think its a perk unlock ability now

It's possible. You unlock it with the Infiltrator perk under Perception.

Or you can shoot them from a safe distance...if you didn't already know.

I didn't know this was possible. I know that Jen has a line when you cancel out of her inventory without buying anything saying something like, "You know, I heard you can disarm landmines with a wrench..." I always thought she was just trolling us though.

She IS trolling as far as I know. You don't wrench them (I think that'll make them blow up in your face) you get the ability (perk or book...sounds like perk) and then I think you can press E to pick them up.
