Alpha 20 how to generate bigger map
i need help on generating bigger maps. last time i posted about this someone told me i need better rams and graphic card to run bigger generated maps. but i upgraded my rams and graphic card already and still can't generate anything pass 4k map. Before A20 i was able to generate 6k and 8k.
My spec:
- Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6402P CPU @ 2.80GHz 2.80 GHz
- 32.0 GB Rams (31.9 GB usable)
- GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3050
-my fps while in-game is 50-60
A16-A19 i was running a 960 GPU and 16 GB rams only and i was able to generate 4k,6k, and 8k map. fps during this old setup is 40-45 while in-game

Funny part is, that you should not be able to generate a 4k map. 6, 8 and 10k should be only options.
So something is definitely wrong.
Be sure to COMPLETELY reinstall game, be sure that you don't have any mods.

This right here.
Alpha 20 by default only supports 6k, 8k, and 10k without mods. If you are able to generate 4k on A20 then you either have mods installed or files that were not properly updated due to some of the known issues with Steam & older versions files (hence the recommendation linked to clear all files with instructions).

If you play single, it's useless to gen & play on a 10k maps... A 6k it's enought...
& mostly seem like a 10k maps is unstable...
But anyway:
- Nothing must be turn in back in Windows even Chrome/Firefox/music/movies & ect...
- Use the game tools to gen a 10k map & NOT by starting a new party !
- During the gen, you must don't touch your PC anymore until that said something like "it's finnished in 10mn"
- With your CPU, that will take nearly a average of +/-10mn to finnish
- When is clearly done, you must quit the game before launch a new party, that will refresh the memory used...

I have a old PC gamer & I can gen 10k map without any problem.

Along with these suggestions, even if Windows lies and says the game is not responding, just ignore Windows and 'Wait for the program to respond'. It usually takes another 1-3 minutes after it says Generation complete before it actually becomes responsive again.

I generated a 12k world with darkness falls mod.
On top of the previous suggestions, you may need to disable some of Windows power saving features so it don't conflict with the game trying to generate the maps. Usually, choosing the 'High Performance' mode for Windows Power scheme will set everything the way it needs to be....unless a person / app had altered it's settings. Most important for gameplay is going to be the minimum power state for the cpu.....it needs to be kept at 100% or windows will try to throttle it down thinking the game don't need the extra power. This causes freezes, fps performance hits, etc.
i did all of the above of what you guys said but still only able to do 4k. a discord buddy told me it's my motherboard so idk if that is the case.
-ASUS ATX DDR4 Motherboards H170-PRO/CSM
my discord buddy said that it might be because of my GPU because it can only hold up to 2133 MHz. i do have 4 tho idk if that make any different.
idk if that is the case since i am able to join any lobbies of any size but if i create one i get stuck at 4k only.

No....I don't believe any of that's true about your system. Wasn't that long ago I was using a similar board with a gpu only having 4GB vram and never ran into this kind of issue. It's most likely an installation issue of the game itself. You may not of done a proper 'Complete' uninstall / 'CLEAN' Install.....which could lead to corruption of data files.

See this thread for tips on doing a clean install;

Note* You need to be sure in steam library / game properties.....that do not have it set to use a beta....so beta should be set to 'None.'

For performance tips, see this thread;

https://steamcommunity.com/app/251570/discussions/1/3190241086281294394/

Most importantly from the performance topic, when you get into game's Main menu....go to settings...be sure 'Dynamic Mesh' and 'Occlusion' is disabled. Next, set video options to the 'Lowest' pre-set. Back out from there and try generating your map. This is after you've made sure you have a clean install and ran the launcher tools to clear all old data ofc. Lowering your settings does seem to help with map generation for some reason. You can adjust them back up once you actually start a game. Be sure you completely close out 7d2d AFTER generating a map.....this will flush your RAM so when you launch again, a bunch will be freed up.

There could be something wrong in your BIOS settings or possibly your Windows installation that 'maybe' causing this issue but, need to start at the game level first to rule it out. A system problem will be much more complex to dig into.

i already clean out all of my folders and data of 7d2d. uninstall and deleted all files or saved data that had to do with the game. i did redo it and this time and i try to generate at the lowest settings as possible but it's still 4k only. really dont want to wipe my whole pc but if everyone solutions is the same i might just have to wipe my whole pc and see if it works or not. if not than i guess i just wont be able to play and enjoy 7d2d no more sadly.
Could you post a screenshot from Editing Tools>Random gen previewer?
This is so beautifully absurd :)

how do i post a picture on here? can't seems to find it, but if i use editing tools i can generate it but it's when i load into the game it becomes 4k, 5k if u count the ocean around the actual map. if i back out and go to continue games it'll says 8k map (west xuyofu terrirtoy). i can post a picture of the generated maps in editing tools and another 1 while in-game with the map open if i can figure out how.

...
What? If gamet generated map, than it can't magically shrink in-game

To post a screenshot:
make a screenshot in-game by pressing prt scr key
go to imgur.com
press ctrl-v
wait for upload
post a link here

I think everything was perfectly fine with your game from start.

That in game picture does not say the map is 4k. It says you are looking at 4079 East and 4092 North of 0. You can also go all the way to 4096 West and 4096 South of zero.

4096 W (-4096) > 0 (0) > 4096 E (+4096) = 8192 West/East
4096 S (-4096) > 0 (0) > 4096 N (+4096) = 8192 South/North
