Change to electric fence posts?
I used to use a corridor with 10 electric fence posts cross it at chest level and the by the end of horde night all the fence posts were generally working. Ocassionally there would be enough damage to knock out the first 2 maybe 3 fences that would stop working.

On A 20 my new design only has 8 fences across the corridor but all 8 were non functional by about midnight. Do Electric traps degrade faster now? I can't seem to figure out what the difference is. I put them at foot level here but it was only day 14 and there were few dogs and no spiders (which would have avoided them in the past).

There is nothing mention in release notes.

I usually run 20 to 24 fences at foot level and for late hordes would have to repair half in A19.
Only tried 7 so far in A20 and there seemed ok.
Then died and restarted my game.
Will update when i build the full 20+ and are up and running.

But also note explosion damage (cops) will take out electric fences if they are close.

Yeah that may be the culprit I assumed damage couldn't go through arrow slits but the 4 way arrow slits seem to let damage through where the old ones didn't seem to as much.

Edit, nope, tested with the fences behind solid concrete walls and either cop explosion damaged them right through the walls or they ran out of juice by 1200am when they used to last most if not all of horde night.

Does concrete not stop explosions where as R. concrete did? (my base was always R. Concrete)

Unless something has changed, and from my experience with cop vomit it hasnt.
It can splash through 1 block and damage things behind it.
Leaving a dead space helps.
Feral / Rad cops with the higher projectile count, just paint your base with tons of pointless damage.

The corridor is 3 blocks wide, with a concrete wall, then two empty blocks, then the fence post. so the closest a cop can be when he pops is 3 blocks from the post, with it being wall, open space open space post.

This is only day 14 so they aren't radiated yet.
The only defence for the electric fences from explosion is distance.
I have a 13 block gap (14 max) between my fence posts.... with cops and demos exploding in the middle. 0 other blocks in-between... and no damage other than normal wear and tear.
as seen here...

That's odd because I've used this same base design essentially since A18 and the fence posts have never been damaged through the reinforced concrete walls. Ever. Same distance, same placement etc. Cops blew up in the corridor and so have demos. POsts were always fine and still working by the end of the hordenight. There are only two differences.

First, I used to use half blocks in the corridor so the zeds were standing half a block higher than "ground level" (the entire thing is elevated) but the fence posts are two blocks high so are two blocks above "ground level". That shouldn't make the explosion go over the posts or anything but I suppose it's possible.

Second, the fenceposts were sealed within a structure, and this time I didn't have time to wall it completely off, so the outside wall is open but there is no way the explosion comes around the walls and comes back to the posts (Basically the wall between the zeds and the posts is there, the floor, the cieling and the two sidewalls but not the 180 degree opposite wall, that wasn't closed off).

Well and third.. it used to be reinforced concrete and eventually steel. Now it's just concrete
