You have a chance for a honey if you chop a tree stumps.
Also eating glass cures it.

antibiotics can be a pain to get hold of, but as the other guy said, you can hit the tree stumps and hopefully find honey, which is alot easier to get and will cure your infection by 5%.

its not insstant btw, the infection symbol will change to a hazard sign with a smile underneath it, this means that your infection is going down but will take time.

Much later, when your loot stage levels up, you'll start finding antibiotics and herbal remedies. Or get those recipes early by putting skill points into medical. Best chance for antibiotics is pharmacies, traders, and medicine cabinets.

Oh dear... .what aY227 is saying, is that, if you die, your infection goes away. Honey will cure up to 5% of an infection but it stacks. So, if you use 2 honey, then 10% infection will be treated, 3 honey, 15% and so on. In early game, tree stumps are your best bet, but sometimes, you just can't find anything and Herbal Antibiotics as well as the blue and white pills, are best for higher percentage infections. However, those are few and far between. Sometimes, the trader will offer them as rewards for quests. Sometimes, you find them in the most unlikely of places, such as trash bags and boxes. I've had very little luck finding them in Pop-n-Pill stores, but others seem to find them there. They can also show up in bathroom medicine cabinets and the white cabinets that hang on walls or medical piles.

I hope you can find what you're looking for, but, if all else fails and you die, you'll just show back up at your bedroll and keep on keeping on once you recover your things. The worst thing that can happen (besides dying, of course) is that your stamina regen is affected so badly that you can't stay alive when fighting. So, either way, it's just part of the process. Good luck to you!

herbal antibiotics which can be sometimes found in medicine cabinets also help by I think 10%, but as stated honey is the easiest thing to get since you just have to find tree stumps.

What others have said: Sometimes, if you're lucky, you can also get honey from basic trees but it's far less common than finding it in a tree stump, so I would focus on tree stumps, instead of trees, unless you have time to cut some down. If your infection is just way too high then it will take a lot of honey, or several herbal antibiotics (finding the blue and white pills, which cure 100% are very hard to find early in the game, and normally come later), then it's best to just let yourself die, or eat glass to instantly die... make sure you're back at your base first (or wherever your bed is), so you're not running for forever to get to your bag after dying. If you don't have a base yet then just make a bedroll and place it where you're at, then eat the delicious glass. VOILA... 100% cured, healthy, +1 to your death count, and an XP penalty for being a noob. WOO HOO! Can't get any better than that!

Unless you're playing perma-death, the easiest solution is what others have said: eating glass is a quick way to die and will clear up your infection. However unless super-dire, its best to do this within the first 3 days of your playthrough: You should not get XP Penalty during the early game, but after that coat symbol is gone, you'll be penalized.

Honey is good, but depending on the RNG gods, you may be hosed.

Also since you are new, there are things that help mitigate getting an infection in the first place:
-Rapid, successive hits from zombies increase the chance of a debuff such as infection.
-Try to get cloth or scrap armor for all parts early on as they reduce the chance to debuff.
-Vitamins, while curing fatigue, will also help reduce the chance of a debuff like infection.

Dying will certainly cure it, but I will always urge people to push through any setback! It will make you a better player the end. end.

Many good suggestions here, and the previous Reply has some great points about avoiding infection in general. (By far the best cure!) Just keep going, and don't be afraid of failing. Learning what doesn't work for you is part of learning what does!

yeah, don't eat glass. That will kill your character, which when you respawn would have cured your infection too, but generally not a good idea to die.

In fact, be careful of broken glass in general. I had a little lag spike in my current playthrough, and accidentally ate the glass. Yes... accidentally. Was moving stuff into a container really fast. Heavy sigh. 3/4's up the way in a tier 5 skyscraper POI. Instant quest failure. Not fun.

They should put a verification button for accidentally eating glass. Example: a pop up asking "Are you sure you want to eat this?!" and then a 2nd pop-up saying "It is not really filling nor tasty and might be detrimental to your health!" just to be sure.

Early game, just because I find a cure, I still never pass a stump. It keeps as long as you do;-)

There is a trader on the outskirts of the burning forest, inside the actual forest, on a dirt road. It's trader Jen, and she typically sells all sorts of medical supplies. If you've encountered her before, pay her a cheeky visit to see if she's got some pills for you. Otherwise, all vendors have a food tab, see if they sell some honey, just make sure you've got the dukes to pay it.

Pop'n Pills stores and crates have a really good chance of containing what you need, and if not, they'll likely contain meds and useful things to keep you alive as you take damage from your infection on your search.

Shamway stores and crates have a chance of containing honey.

There is a guaranteed way to remove it, but you need to be near the desert in the Navezgane map, near the left side of the map. There is a gigantic ravine that is very deep, and inside that ravine, near the very edge of the map, is a way to go up. On top of the ravine is an old mining outpost. If you go down it, simply follow your way to a dead-end looking staircase outside of the mine, in the ravine, a little above the floor of the ravine. There's a Mountain Man chest there, it will always contain Herbal Antibiotics, and iirc they remove 10% infection. Inside the same mine beneath the mining outpost is also a cave looking area with water at the bottom. There are nitrate stalactites hanging from the roof, and at the very top is another mountain man chest.

Not trying to be contradictory, but looking at map desert is right side of map or, the East side. I`m sure you prolly meant going South, the desert is all on the left yeah? ;-) Speaking of which for all my years and time in the game, it`s bout time to play an A20 version of Navezgane map hehe. I can`t recall ever spawning other than in the burnt, forest, or snow biomes. Yep, think I`ll give Nav a go again. Thankee for the niggle. I like to start new games a lot anyways. Cheers
