I believe if you leave it laying about then move far enough away from it (as in, far enough it no longer renders) then there's a chance it may despawn. I have never tested this however.
I do know what if you leave it in a storage box of some sort it will not despawn no matter the distance.
I have multiples of all vehicle types crafted and sitting around my base, and the only vehicle I've had a glitch with in 19.x is the gyro. I've loaded my game and found the tail portion of my gyro partially embedded in the ground, and the nose in the air. But all I have to do for that case is pick it up into my inventory and re-place it.
I do recall that previously (late A18 or early A19, can't recall what build it was) that occasionally a vehicle would just disappear, and then you'd be wandering around and find the vehicle (with all stuff still in it) back at a previous place you had left it. Baffling. Then, you'd get that vehicle back to base, keep playing, maybe pass by the place that it disappeared from the first time, and there's your vehicle - complete with all the stuff still in it (again). It was a very odd duplication bug, and it was so weird because the vehicles disappeared but were obviously still in the game save somewhere, only to reappear later.
