Spawn item (giveself)

Could someone explain me how to.... because even if it does say that it gives me the item.... Well I don't have it into my inventory O.o please light me up

One must type: giveself (item) (quality( Default quality is 600(You don't need to type this part unless you care))) and it will drop the item at your feet for you to pick up into your inventory.

The problem is that it spawns certain tools IN the ground at your feet, and will glitch through the terrain and fall through the world. If you leave the command menu open, it'll say that. You need to be atop a roof/platform/etc., with an opening beneath for it to fall to, otherwise you lose it. It does work 100% of the time, but it falls through the world! Hope this helps this old thread!

Introduction
These are the names and how to type them into the
command bar correctly. Using the command bar will only
get one item each time entered. There is no way to make
stacks that I know of, and items you spawn drop to the
ground. This means it won't be in your inventory until you
pick up the item from the floor.
To use this simply open the console by pressing the tilde
key, type "giveself gunPistol" without the quotes and hit
enter. This will drop a flawless 600 pistol on the ground. If
you want something other than flawless then type in
"giveself gunPistol 400". A pistol of quality 400 will drop
on the ground. This is case sensitive which means
"gunpistol" will not work, but "gunPistol" will.
This works online if the server allows the specific
commands, but they should all work in singleplayer.
Note: You can use the creative menu to collect stacked
items such as ammo. I am not doing blocks as it took me
hours to get the names and put them in this guide.

Thread is 2 years old, technically even that item list needs to be adjusted for a16 names/items

calipers is gone, crucible is added, those two alone means the list is out of date

I'm not going to examine every line to see what else might be off. granted 99% of it hasn't changed since a15, but that misses the point of my comment

I never said creative MODE

You do realize the creative menu is not the same thing as creative mode, right?

Creative MODE is something you choose before starting the game type: creative mode, single player, multiplayer ~ or dedicated server

Creative MENU is something you can toggle on and off from the console, same as the debug mode

cm for creative menu and dm for debug mode, both can be turned on and off at will using console commands ~ and let's face it, we're in a thread discussing console commands (wtf do you think spawn item is?)

The console certainly doesn't prevent achievements (you know that right?), and you can simple toggle off creative menu and debug if you want to return to normal gameplay

As long as creative menu and debug are off while attempting achievements they have no long term prevention of achievement gain

These things are toggles, understand?

And trust me when I tell you I understand exactly what does or does not affect achievements, you might notice I've already 100% achieved them in this game

I mean you've only killed 102 zombies without cheats turned on. I do that many in a few minutes
