Upload / Download speed requirements
Hi guys, saw a few questions for this in the past, but does anyone have data on what upload and download speeds you need to avoid lag in multiplayer? Both for as a server per player connected, and as a connecting player.

I don't remember having issues back when my wired speeds were around 5MB-Download and 1MB-Upload. I think I've had okay performance even when slowed down around 3MB-down and 0.5MB-up, but I also remember getting some ping and rubber-banding issues when I further slowed that down by going wireless and trying to stretch the range too far (granted, this was also apparently slow enough to start struggling with 1080p youtube and netflix).

I'm guessing, if your internet is stable (squinting at you, old satellite) and fast enough for 1080p youtube without needing to pause and buffer, you're probably fine. Granted, youtube playback isn't a good test of upload speeds (which ARE important for gaming), but I think most internet providers tend to keep a somewhat decent ratio between upload and download speeds.

The game calls for broadband.
According to the FCC, online multiplayer needs a minimum 4Mbps download.

This game is unoptimized though and a little bit heavy. I think I saw someone say just downloading a map could use 10Mbps if the server allows that speed. Upload you probably need a minimum of 512kbps.

If you want to avoid lag, go a bit higher than that.

From my experience, I can host a game with 4 players most of the week but the added network stress/usage of horde night made it unplayable for the remote players. My upload speed is about 1 MBps for reference.

Do you have HordeNight ZombieCount set higher than 6-8zeds?

Having more it set higher (which means 4-5players X 12zeds = 48-60zeds simultaneous) will automatically drag your system down under 60fps basically regardless of hardware or configuration.

I intended that post more as a guide or answer to OP than anything else, but thanks for the input of course. Z's were set at the default 8, my FPS was pretty playable however the lag really didn't help the people I was playing with.
