How Do I Get Hoe For Planting Crops?

I desperately need to plant some crops due to not being able to find much of anything to eat. I raid buildings and i am lucky to find a few cans of food which get used up to get back and forth to my base and i eventually end up dying. I have a ton of water but food is a huge issue in this game. I check birds nest but it seems 90% of the time there is only feathers plus eggs give next to no health when eaten. There us to be deer and pigs in the game and i have walked all through the wooded areas and in 4 days with my bow seen nothing, no animals for the exception of 1 chicken.

I looked in my crafting area and types hoe in the search box and there doesn't seem to be a hoe anymore, can we still garden in this game to grow food I remember doing so. I have seeds but it will not allow me to plant any seeds on the ground so i just keep dying.

No hoe is needed in A19. Just make a farm plot. You may need to invest in the Living Off The Land perk if you don't find a Farm Plot schematic in loot.

This really sucks that we have to go through building farm plots when we have the ground to use, who's brain child was this, so stupid. I am starving over and over yet i can't even plant simple crops on the ground, great idea. if you were trying to survive you would not go through all the effort and waste resources to build a box to plant food, you would till the ground and plant seeds.

The cost of a farm plot is no different than the cost it used to take to make fertilizer in previous alphas. Minus the 15 minute crafting time for each fertilizer.

Yah well i don't have the perk so i guess i just keep dying and taking away the ability to plant on the ground makes no sense what so ever especially when i saw a game generated building that had a plot of corn. It's just not the way it's done in real life so i just struggle with the whole idea that we can't simply plant some seeds on the actual ground. This game is really got some messed up changes that have no logic.

Can't say I disagree with you on some of their changes lately, or ones planned in A20. Don't change what isn't broken.

Yap i think at this point i will just play and when i die from not eating I will respawn at my bed at full health and call it a day. This way i will not have to worry about getting food my health will be full after respawn problem solved. Not only that these stupid farm plots will cause lag on the server. everything you construct has to be drawn when your in view and if i want to make a farm with many different plants that means i need a bunch of boxes to get a substantial amount of food for cooking which will add lag and use more ram. They should be working on optimizing the game not adding more needed structures to be placed.

I may be wrong here, but I think farm plots don't NEED Living Off The Land to craft, only to increase the yield and make crafting them cheaper. So assuming you have some found seeds, you could craft them on day one.

Personally I think the game is now, as good as it needs to be. Stop adding fluff and fix the bugs. Optimize and call it done. Add something "new" and then find all the bugs IT causes and re-work that coding (more unnecessary delays).

Personally, I drive around and look for people holding signs saying something along the lines of 'Will work for....' and then hire them to work my garden for me. It doesn't actually need to be a 'Hoe' unless that's just a fetish or something......could be a little more interesting to watch. Lol

I missed the old system when it first changed but now Im glad it has. Just a lot smoother progression of getting food up and running and one less tool to worry about. Once you make them and decide that no here isnt a great place to live you just take them with you. The skill was a little obnoxius when it was a 5pt line but now on 3pt with the first two making it cheaper to make those plots its well worth it.

You don't need a perk to craft FarmPlots. Just the materials (some wood, dirt, nitrate and rotten flesh...all super easy to find) and seeds.

You already have a bunch of seeds right? Otherwise the hoe wouldn't do you any good.

Dying from starvation takes several days....longer (or never) if you eat the canned food you find while looting and maybe spend a single point (or find recipe) to make bacon&eggs.
If you put a FortifyingGrip on your weapon/tool then you'll never starve to death.
