Darkness Falls not finding Raw Iron on surface or under to mine

We have been playing Darkness Falls mod and is anyone else not finding Iron ore or any other mining material above surface like its suppose to be in Alpha 18? We are digging and cant' find it underneath either... Any suggestions?

My friend and I have found the largest f**king iron/oil shale deposit next to this Burial Supply quest, Like we dug about 50+ blocks till we gave up cause there were a ton still left to be mine.

This was all found in the Desert Biome.

And you are running DF newest version .. and client 18.2? Which quest and which map are you guys on? Also are you finding deposits above ground or no?

Here is the answer I think you are looking for. In Darkness Falls, you have to look for the rocks that you can break three times. Whatever resource you harvest along with the rock is what is below it. Dig down and get that resource. Hope this helps.

There's also a Journal entry for resources that lets you know which Biomes Iron can be found in. Not all resources can be found in all biomes, but if that resource is a feature of some POI, then it should still be there.
