The most common is that you did not delete your old worlds, which are different from your old saves.
Click on 7dtd in your steam games list. A box will pop up with play as the first choice and game launcher as the 2nd. Choose launcher. Go to tools. Clean all your old data, making sure that delete all worlds is checked, not delete worlds not played in the last 30 days.
Go to start new game. For the world, you should have navezgane, the 3 pregens, and new random. Choose new random and choose a seed name you have never used before. Don't leave it blank.
This newly generated world should have a trader and no other glitches that can occur due to playing on an old map.
The 2nd cause is modded maps that don't have a forest biome. The initial trader quest sends you to a forest trader. If you are playing an all-wasteland or all-snow map, you will get the no trader message.
There should still be traders on your map, but you will have to find them the old fashioned way: by looking for them. At least now that they are in cities, they are easier to find.
