Flawless Steel Pickaxe or Auger

Where do y'all find tools such as a steel pickaxe and an Auger? I'm running a single player server, and while I have flawless quality of all my other (steel) tools, I have yet to find an Auger or a steel pickaxe with a greater quality that 1. Please help, it's kinda hard to build a base from the ground up with just the iron I get from scrapping loot during the day and mining with a quality 1 steel pickaxe at night.

Flawless Steel Pickaxe

Where do y'all find steel pickaxes? So far with lucky looter, I've found flawless quality items for everything I use aside from my hunting rifle (have level 5), my steel spear (crafted level 5), and my steel pickaxe. I've only ever found level one steel pickaxes and I've only ever found two of them. So my question is, where do y'all go to loot to find steel pickaxes? I'm sure if I loot enough of those places I'll find a flawless one. I am level 40, on day 47, game stage 76, and I've looted most of navezgane aside from the desert and the tundra.

They are random loot, but you have a slightly better chance looting from tool shops. Even with Lucky Looter, in my experience they are fairly rare, and I usually don't find a steel pickaxe until my 2nd week (steel fireaxes seem to pop earlier for some reason). You can find them in random loot, too, so just keep on looting. Also, find as many traders as possible, and with the Better Barter perk, you can occasionally buy one, usually of low to middling quality. The quality is not that important compared to the damage increase of the steel pickaxe, though, any steel pickaxe is better than all its predecessors.

I have a steel pickaxe, I'm looking for a higher quality one or an Auger. But thanks, I'll look on the map to try and find a tool shop I haven't looted yet. Also, I'm on my 7th week and have looted most of the map so you'd think I'd have found a decent mining tool by now, lol

Honestly, you’re more likely to get one by checking each trader daily and doing missions for them in between resets than just randomly looting.

Yknow, if you've found a high quality pickaxe at all; even an iron one, you'd be mining a -lot- faster than that Q1 steel pickaxe, right? Steel is a nice step up, but iron is far from useless.

Find any pickaxe ya can, and fit some mods onto it. Particularly the Iron Breaker mod if you have one. Doesn't have to be Q6.

If you have miner 69er and the steel tools or auger schematic, you can at least craft one of up to t5. T6 is only from exceptionally rare loot or level 5 quest rewards, and RNG can just mean you never see them at times.

As I loot through towns and cities I find T6 all the time, mostly for duplicates. Also, I'm running a perception (and now also intelligence b/c I wanted vehicles) build, so I don't have points to put into strength. But thanks for the tips everyone

Best source of rank 6 items outside of RNG looting is top tier trader quests.

Give it time. Having such high quality for the other items means you were lucky.

I just scored a T6 auger from a broken workbench on Day 107!!! I've been using a T5 since around Day 70.
