Darkness Falls Mod Questions

Not the *best* place to ask about mod specifics, but I cant find any sort of official forum...

I have a few questions, if anyone is familiar with the mod:
1) I have laborer class and level 3 in Hammer and Forge, which "at a workbench you can craft iron armor and a crucible" - though my crucible recipe is unknown currently. This is stopping me from making forged steel. I am unsure what I am missing, or what else needs done before I can make forged steel.
1.a) Crucible also requires a "welding tool" which I have looted for weeks and never seen. Is this a looted item, is it included with something, or something else? I am not sure what I am missing on this one as well.

2) Is the only way to get "bundle of skill notes" to salvage mod schematics? To get the required 120 (60 @ station) at only 3 a pop seems like it would take ages to get a new class skill. I am ok with the grind, I just want to make sure I am not overlooking other ways.

Just checking in again, as our current game using the mod is basically at a growth standstill for getting steel. We have resorted to tearing apart power lines to get steel, and those are few and far between. On top of that, several forges full of iron just waiting to be used.

I had previously with another question - and I got a response that pushed me more to the questions section.

I feel like its a hard to place question since its gameplay questions, but based on the capabilities of the mod.

Its just weird that it seems the DF mod is pretty popular, but no official forum for general questions location. The only forum I can find is the single, main forum which I still have yet to be approved to post on (registered 2 weeks ago). Even then, the forum is mostly bug checking it seems.

Asking here was just my last ditch effort.

Maybe a little late but I just got into Darkness Falls and had similar problems. So maybe it helps someone.

You need the "Metal Workstation" to craft the Crucible.
The Welding Torch can be found or bought at a trader.

Skill the Quality Joe perk to increase chances of finding. Working Stiffy boxes may be the best spot where to find the Welding Torch.

Get a lot of Dukes and buy any skill books and schematics from traders.
There are POIs where the Dukes are stacked mile-high. In form of diamond ore e.g.

hi i also have a question how do you use a crucible in a normal forge? i cant craft steel.

You can't make steel in a normal forge. You need to make advanced forges until you can make the next level up... If you have speced into Laborer, you will have that ability and can spend the necessary point. Advanced forged are great and you will use the crucible in those.

But to make an advanced forge you need 250 Forged Steel.
So how do you make forged steel to make the advanced forge?

yeah i found out how to do it you need to craft a big forge

and then make a crucible and put it inside the big forge
