World editor
How do we save changes made in editor in order to play in the actual game ?
And how we delete world editor's created worlds ?

Same problem!
Everything I do in the world editor doesn't save in game.

An easy workaround could be to unlock, in game, the terrain modify tools of the world editor ...
but it seems impossible...

Are you Starting a New Game after making and saving your changes in the world editor?

Editing Tools > World Editor
Make changes
Save
New Game
Select World
Play.

Logs, examples of your workflows?

Hi!
thanks for your attention, here my workflow:

1- I generate a new custom world
2- edit this world (with terrain modifications, buildings etc.. in creative mode)
3- save (both with "save" UI button and "saveworld" console command)
4- start a new game in the same edited world
= I start in the same place , but without any of the modification done into the world editor.

I didn't find any answer online ...
What I'm missing?
Is the "world editor" still a "work in progress"?
Am I doing mistakes?

Thanks a lot.

I'm confused as to what you mean for steps 1 and 2
1). generate a new world how? Tools > World Editor?
2). creative mode as in starting a new game with creative enabled on that world? Or do you mean in Tools > World Editor?

To be clear my only use of the world editor thus far has been to load a dtm.tga, and issue swa command when I created a brand new world from scratch using an external image and I have not yet tried at all in 17.1
A17b240 Quick Guide to Creating a ‘7DTD’ world from an image.

I tried both following ways, A and B:

way A)
---- Editing Tools > Random Gen previewer
(You type a seed value, choose the size, and it generate a new fractal random world.)

Then in:

----Editing Tools > World Editor
(I select the previously random generated world to modify it. )

way B)
---- Editing Tools > World Editor (directly, without previously generate a new fractal world)
In this case I can see only the "Navezgane" terrain selectable.

In both cases I modify the terrain using the Z button to create the bounding box and , for example, fill it with matter ( "L" button ), or deleting matter ("J" button).

This "Level tool" works only in Editing Tools>World editor,
because in-game , if I activate the creative mode and developer mode, i can only use the Z button to draw the blue bounding box, but I'm not allowed to fill or delete the selection with J and L.

Everything I do in the Editing Tools> World Editor (both Navezgane or any new generated world)
doesn't affect that world in-game.

I can modify and save it only in-game, with the in-game creative mode, that is not so complete as in world editor (doesn't work the J and L button, for example).

AWWW--- It's so difficult to explain! XD
Thanks for your patience!

I understood you. Thanks. I'm sorry though, not having used the editor to do anything but smoothworldall I am unsure as to the answer on if it works or not. The workflows sound like they should but well, certainly possible to have bugs.

Thank a lot Red Eagle!

The world editor has very powerful tools.
It unlocks an exclusive "level tools" tab next the "Debug mode" tab,
that allow you to use "Z", "J", "L" button to free terraforming.

It looks strange to me that nobody has my same problem or talk about it...
I mean.. in this kind of game, when you are tired of standard gameplay, building free should be a very funny alternative!

Hi thanks for responses , what i have done to work somehow to save the changes is to create and modify the world and after i am done put the whole edited chunks of the world in a prefab square and save it as a prefab then save the world and exit. Thats my workaround for now. Tell me if it worked for you.
Matrosa Jan 20, 2019 @ 6:16am
Hi candrei,
Could you tell me please the shortcuts to create the prefab green box and to scale it to make it contain the edited chunks?
And, once in-game, you have to place that prefab previously saved? Or you just "save" whole world in the world editor and you ll find it in the same exact place in game?
thedude Jan 22, 2019 @ 1:15am
You just save the prefab squarebox in editor and u are all good to go in normal world after.
First press z on your keyboard them press g and drag with the mouse over the entire creation or edit u maked and adjust the height ( - /+ ) also. Then press k and sve the prefab and the world after. :cozybethesda:

What is smoothworldall? Is it what it sounds like? If so, does it remove all prefabs, trees, and such? If it doesn't that would be wonderful.
thedude Jan 22, 2019 @ 3:59am
I do not know that maybe it is a new setting added in latest version 17.1 i havent enter the game lately.

smoothworldall is a command for usage when importing a terrain heightmap from an image. It is not meant for established worlds.

An example of when, how and why to use it can be found in posting A17b240 Quick Guide to Creating a ‘7DTD’ world from an image.
Basically when you create a dtm.tga and then import it to create a world, the whole world will look rather like a Minecraft world but made of diamonds instead of squares.
smoothworldall give the rounded more natural flow to the blocks.
The one can follow with placing the prefabs, etc.

Ah, okay. Makes sense now.
