Is there any way to regen a new map without losing character progress?
It took me a while to figure out that the random gen map turned out very badly for a lot of reasons but I hate to have to start my character progress from the start. Is there any way to generate a new map and keep my current character's level progression instead of starting from scratch?

Assuming you are doing the same alpha there is a way to do this in single player at least.

Step 1: Create the new map and generate a new character.
Step 2: From your existing characters save folder copy the ttp file only to the new maps save folder. Ex:

*** FROM ***
7DaysToDie/Saves/<SEED FOLDER/RANDOM GEN>/<OLD MAP>/Player/XXX.TTP

*** TO ***
7DaysToDie/Saves/<SEED FOLDER/RANDOM GEN>/<NEW MAP>/Player/XXX.TTP

Be sure before you copy you pack your characters inventory with the things you really want to take with you to start over.

You can save your character file (a .ttp file) and then start a new game and re-paste the old character in as long as its the same version of the game.

C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\7DaysToDie\Saves\Random Gen\<USERNAME>\Player

The file you want to copy is a long number followed by .ttp

If you have a char from older version i suggest to use Giveselfxp command and CM menue to get your stuff back.

Copy the Character file i only suggest inside a version

Or you have the risk to cause bugs that maybe show up after you spend 100 Hours in a base

When you say your map has no traders, I am assuming you mean that after finishing your starter quests you get the find trader quest and it says no trader?

If so, your map does indeed have traders, but you are playing an old map generated well before this patch. At one point, the names of the trader settlements were changed and your map was generated before that change happened. Not your game, but the actual map that you are playing that game on.

You need to clean out all those old maps and not use them again, and generate new maps.

Follow the instructions in this thread:

https://steamcommunity.com/app/251570/discussions/0/2798378453071670240/

Make sure to check the box that says clean ALL old maps, not just the box that says all maps not played in the last 30 days.

Delete your mods folder if you have ever downloaded mods for this game.

Go to start new game. Your choices for worlds should be Navezgane, the 3 pregens, and new random. If you have Rucevi county or anything like that, you did not check the correct box.

Choose new random, give the world and the seed names you have never used before, and generate your map.

Hey everyone, yea truly the map didnt had any traders, so i did the cleanup. Generated new map, transfered character folders and it works like a charm, i did a screenshots of items inside the base, then on the new map i used console command (cm) to enter creative menu and add those things to myself, deactivated creative and it doesnt even disabled achivemenets. One thing tho, since i transfered the old chars and they still have the find trader q, the quest points me somewhere underground, so i just abandoned all quests and only take fresh ones.
