My personal oppinion on the console is: If its not being used to correct an error because of a bug glitch, its considered cheating.

Those might not be the right names, sorry, if they don't work look in the "Config" dir for items.xml, open that with notepad and search for "tea" and "bacon", you should be able to find the correct names to use if those don't work

I just remembered, the tea has "jar" in it, so "drinkJarGoldenRodTea" or "jarGoldenRodTea"... Hmmm, check the items.xml, I'm sure I'm guessing wrong :) - Either way, it's "giveself {itemname}" to cheat and give you the resource.

open console - type dm and press enter [debug menu on] - close console - press Q [enter god mode] - food, water, temp, infection, etc. reset - press Q [leave god mode] open console and type dm again and press enter to leave debug menu.

edit: if you leave the debug menu open, you don't get credit toward achievements.

Unless you're replacing something lost to a glitch like a mini-bike falling through the world, then spawning in items with giveself is just cheating.

Hell, why not just giveselfxp and bump yourself up to level 100.

who cares that much about achievements? let a guy play how he wants to.

Ok, go into console, type dm, type cm, exit console. hit q. Enjoy your game. Might want to turn off flying and no collision though, makes walking on uneven ground easier. If you're gonna cheat, might as well be God.

The game is adv enough that it's tough to start out if new, if someone wants to cheat a little until they get the feel of the game, what is wrong with that? Hopefully after a bit they no longer need to bypass the devs thoughts on how the game should work and will play with no other choices than what appears in the UI (things like zombies not running, scavenger, time of day etc).

I don't see why Beast's question should warrant any negativity.

Beasts question is valid. Using the console commands is a slippery slope. At what point is it cheating? Yeah a bug making your minibike disappear is one thing... Adding stuff because you cant find it while playing is another. As for Acheivements, I've earned every one of mine legally so yeah it kinda matters to me.

If you believe in the devs thoughts on things it's simple, if you open the console to do something or edit an .xml file, you are cheating, no doubt! I agree with you 100%. I'm just saying, if you are trying to learn the game and you are playing solo (and you know you are taking a shortcut), there is nothing wrong with that.

Again, it's a bit of a learning curve if you are just starting, I can understand adding a little food and water until you get the hand of things.
