Dye: Solvent
Anyone got any idea what this does?

Tried installing it into armour and it doesn't really do anything besides act as a slot filler.

They are used for weapons and tools to increase stats. As for armor just changes color of your armor? Idk on the armor just used them on tool and weapons so far.

Normal dyes change the color, but the "Dye: Solvent" doesn't have any color change, but it does fill a slot and give the weapon stat bonuses.

I can't really tell you why though.

Maybe if you have 1 or more dyes attached for stat bonuses, the solvent brings the item back to its original color?

I dunno, I'm just spitballing.

Wow I missed the Solvent part thought they were asking what dyes do. Solvent's are used to make more dyes right?

I can attach solvent to a weapon or armor just like dye, but it doesn't add any color - only a stat bonus.

I haven't tried adding more than 1 dye or solvent to the same item so I'm just guessing it removes all other dye colors from the item while still adding the stat bonuses.

Ok yeah asked my wife she ran across one of those said it didnt change the color of the weapon. Guess they added this so if you dont want a red or green weapon or tool keep it default. Me I like having a red fire ax looks good.

Dyes take up a mod slot so they add a bit of stats so you aren't being punished as much for using a dye instead of a proper mod - this creates the problem of punishing players who AREN'T using dyes to fill their empty mod slots, so Solvent seems to be a bandaid fix for players who want that extra stats from the dye, but don't want their gear to be a bunch of different funky colors.

It's a clever fix for a weird problem, I'm not sure why they don't just have dye slots though I think they plan on having that by the time a17 is considered stable.
