NO dont leave ping perfect donjt fix whats not broken you might regret it you know what happenes when you go cheap you get what you pay now thats my opinion i pay 24 dollars for my 16 slot server but i been with them for a long time since alpha 1 so i bartered with them and got agreat price with great service PING PERFECT that is
what i've noticed that's possitive: the ping is the same as ping perfects, BUT
the negative: 1: ping fluctuation, it will go from 90 to 130 and back and forth.. ping perfect is steady. what worries me about that is i don't think their servers are pure dedicated ones. meaning on a busy day my connection will be all over the place.
the 2nd bad thing about them, is they don't have servers in california area or closer.
so while i think they may be a good alternative, the few extra $ i pay at ping perfect for an 8 slots and 8 mumble slots is worth it.
gameserver : $12.35 for an 8 slot with 10 teamspeak
pingperfect: $16.72USD for an 8 slot with 8 mumble
so ping perfect is 35.4% more expensive. or in this example 4.37$ more.
which would save me 52.44$ a year. which would net me in theory, 4.2 months more at gameservers for the same amount of money.
these are a few forums warning against gameserver:
http://www.gsprating.com/gameservers/
http://www.ripoffreport.com/r/Gameserverscom/internet/Gameserverscom-Not-Dedicated-servers-Gameserverscom-Internet-830134
ping pefect answers and solves my problems in 10 minutes from a complaint. and when you're dealing with an alpha game, and editing your own files, things go wrong all the time..
so i think for a the hands off players, gameservers might be ok.. but i'm gonna stick with ping perfect because it's 100% reliable.
another thing that worries me about gameserver, on their forum they have a place for Customer Testimonials
http://forums.gameservers.com/viewforum.php?f=21&sid=b26c92624b2e18e4e840e3a3b65bea55
that being said people only posted; Feb 20,Mar 07,Jun 05
--that's 3 happy customers over a period of 7 months.
i wont post all the stats, but only 6 happy customers betweeen 13-14.. that's an average of 1 person per two months.. which again, doesn't give me a lot of confidence.
those aren't good statistics.
here is a massive forum by ping perfect on the 7d2d website. on it many people claim they have tried 3-4 servers, pingperfect being the best.
Gameserver, while cheaper, do in fact put multiple servers/games on the same hardrive. When servers on both ends are full of players, it can cause lag. Lag spikes have been reported as common occurances by dozens of reviews. Though i will add, some people never experience this. People have also reported their tickets sometimes take 17-24 hours to be answered
Pingperfect, has pure dedicated servers. It also from my experience, over 20 tickets issued, has a 10 minute or less response time. If i mess up a code, they will go into my files and fix it.. they are amazingly talented. They are also a smaller company, and more focused on keeping their consumers happy.
So if you're new to this game, and you just want to ♥♥♥♥ around a little. I'd go with a gameserver server.
but if you're a serious host, and you enjoy a more stable and reliable server, i'm going to have to go with ping perfect. 35% more is worth it for the response time and amazingly reliable connection which NEVER falters.
On my server, i have people playing from all around the world and many parts of the united states, never had a problem.
adding mods is very easy. you have full control over the harddrive and all its files.
i've never made other people moderators, so i don't know how easy that is
but if you want a feature added to the UI script, you just tell them and they will figure it out for you..
so literally you could put in a ticket," hey i want to make other people moderators, what do i need to do" and they will answer you in 10 min..
they are amazing
it has what you want you can all the people who logged into yourserver, how many times, how long. when the last time, you can ban them and you can also assign different colors to players and track them on the map and see where they go.
