Health stuck?
I'm sure this has been asked, but I cannot get my health up. Its stuck at 78/100. I eat and drink to no avail. Do I really need a medkit or healing bandage?

your health is probably damaged using either a bandage or first aid bandage will fully restore the health back, a standard bandage is made from 2 cloth fragments

Eating restores your stamina, not health. You need a medical bandage, or a point into the regeneration perk under fortitude.

That makes that skill very sought after I would think.

Eating does restore current health. But it won't restore it past "max health" (which is different from your maximum possible health). In the OP's case he most likely took damage to his max health and will need some medical supplies to get it back up.

A very small amount, yes. I would doubt very much anyone actually uses food as a source of healing, ever. (Except in 16.x, where yucca fruit was potentially useful for slight healing on day 1 if you ate 50 of them, but I think that effect is gone now.) It's for stamina. For someone trying to fix his "stuck" health (indicating he's somewhat new to the system and trying to figure it out), it seemed less confusing to simply let him know he needed med bandages and food is for stamina, because it is.

If you have high (but not full) health and don't see any major problems occurring it's entirely feasible to rely on health gains you naturally make from eating (to keep up stamina and stop from starving) to top you up. If you're doing this and you don't see your health going up when you think it should be it might be confusing and idk, I felt like it was better to actually clarify the mechanics in play. I didn't understand this when I came back to the game recently either and wondered why my health wasn't going above like 95 after eating.

And that's fine. I agree I should have said food is primarily for stamina. It heals a small amount and gives a large boost to stamina. The reason I didn't feel it was relevant was because, to me, it's like telling a new person a shovel is useful for combat. While technically true in a very nitpicky sense, you can hit with it and it does some damage, no one uses it for that purpose, they use something that does the job better. Better to just say "A shovel isn't for combat, use a club instead." Which is a mirror analog of my answer about healing.

Not to mention, eating to heal when you are not down on stamina would be absolutely horrible advice for a new person in the early game. Hopefully that much, at least, is clear.

Anyway both of us said he needs a med bandage, not eating a lot. :)

You'll need a higher level in the healing perk. The early ones don't help with your max health. Either that or use medical bandages or 1st aid kits.

the lvl 1 is supposed to give me 1 hp/30sec. It doesnt. No higher lvl needed to confirm this

And you are correct. Lvl 1 does restore 1hp/30sec of health... but only up to whatever your max health can be at that time. There is a soft cap and a hard cap. The way to increase your hard cap back to max is with medical bandages, 1st aid kits or higher levels of the healing perk.
If you read the descriptions of the higher level healing perks you will see that it also increases your MAX health. This is the hard cap that you're looking for to get your health back up to max.
