HELP farming!!! where do I find my hoe

I have been p[laying on xbox a while and trying to learn PC I need to start a farm so that I quit starving to death but can't find a hoe! suggestions? Help?

You mine nitrate like every other ore, find lump (white spiky rock for nitrate) on surface and dig beneath it. Tool level is increased with miner 69er skill.

Nitrate can also be gotten from smashing the bodies and carcasses you find on the road etc

Huge learning curve for everyone, they changed up quite a bit since the last version, which was much more similar to xbox, but already far ahead still
It feels great so far, haven't considered farming yet, I loot so much of everything :)

@OP: remember also to put a few points in the "Iron Guts" skill if you go for farming, since "natural" food has always a chance for food poisoning. Contaminated environment and such, you know...

say WHAT??? lol I have made a few plots now on top of the hospital. do I need to replant everytime or just pick? I read something somewhere or a youtube video that talked about just picking and not replanting. how many levels can we have? and can you open everything? what should I focus on first? I am so lost on the skills, to me so different than xbox

and how many days on growing the food now? I've made a few plots and seem like they've been growing forever and are only still plants, and the production? how much does it reproduce? so many questions lol on xbox farming was my main food source, is it not on PC?

What's up with all the workbenches? They're everywhere and any use for the bones?

Loot cars for tires. They can be found in some Pass & Gas boxes, or you can make them (may need the perk).
Bones are used for glue...which you need to make duct tape which is needed for repair kits, so save them!
Growing food takes a day or so in game, and just punch the crop when it's ready and you'll harvest it. The plant will remain and keep growing, unless you punch it again then that removes the seed.
