How does Rule 1: Cardio work?
Increase stamina while sprinting? I purchased the first perk and haven't really noticed any difference

I have 4/5 level and my stamina regenerates while I'm sprinting. Basically you can sprint for longer. 1/5 basically is useless.

Works basically how it says; each rank increases your stamina regeneration rate while sprinting by 10/20/30/40/50%-- Not sure if its added individually to 150% total or if each rank is a 10% increase..i'd guess the latter.

You're basically -always- regenerating stamina during any task; except when you perform a power attack, even when sprinting, so by increasing your stamina regen rate, you can sprint for longer. By rank 3 or 4, instead of stamina going down slower while sprinting, you instead begin regenerating stamina, albeit at a slowed rate as compared to just standing still.

Early game invest in ANY skills that make you use less stamina. Rule 1 Cardio for running, Sexual Tyranosaurus for melee and mining, are prime, Parkour and Olympic swimmer reduce stamina for jumping and swimming.

I have to almost completely disagree with this. Olympic Swimmer is useless until large bodies of water come back to RWG maps, unless you just happen to be building your base out in one of the lakes on the Navezgane map. Parkour is narrow and situational; depends on your looting and fighting style. Cardio loses a lot of value once you have a minibike or better, as noted. Sexual T-Rex I usually wait to get until I have decent tools and am ready to do extended pit mining for ores. If you play a melee-heavy style with lots of power attacks, it's probably a good early investment.

Clarification -- Shurenai seems to say this is always benefiting you. Is it while running only, or all of the time? I had previously thought it was all the time. If it's only during running, then it has much less value.

This thread is 5 years old and I assume it was for A17. Yes, it's only for running and swimming. Back then they didn't have a swimming animation.

In A17, cardio had 5 levels and each level increases stamina regen by 10-15-20-25-30% while sprinting.

In A21 there's only 3 levels and they increase stamina regen by 10-20-30% while sprinting and swimming --yeah I know...who cares about swimming...but hey, its there.

Using less stamina while sprinting is a big advantage IMO. Especially early game. It allows you to run further and cover more ground while exploring or run away from Z's when need be. Which can be a life saver in certain situations.
