How to revert to a previous save
I copied my save file from c: -> users --> me --> appdata--> roaming --> 7dtd --> saved --> my level to my desktop . I then pasted my folder back into the saves folder once my power flicked off and corrupted the level. I am trying to revert to that point but it wont show up in "continue" list

If you copied everything from

c::\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\7DaysToDie\Saves

That should work. That's actually more than you need to backup, because there can be more than one game in there and you might not need to backup all of them.

Is this is offline SP? Did you exit the game before making the backup and doing the restore?

What is the total size of the data you backed up?

yes its offline SP

I exited the game on "milestones" my dogs have a habit of popping my surge protector switch so i learned my lesson. then backed up the save file to my desktop

I had to delete the original save game from 7dtd because i couldnt select it to do it from in game interface

after which i copy pasted the new one.. and only my test world is showing up which i use to test builds

I am not sure about the total size but I imagine its not much day 7 level 40

Normally I would recommend not copying everything in \Saves. I would recommend going two folders deeper and only backing up

\Saves\<mapname>\<gamename>

example

c:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\7DaysToDie\Saves\Chippewa Valley\MyGameName\*.*

But what you did should work.

Sounds like something went wrong with one of the copy operations, or you didn't backup exactly what you thought you did, or accidentally made the backup while the game was still running.

You could try an experiment to see if exactly what you are doing actually works. Start a new separate game called "test" or whatever. Exit and back up only that game, delete the game, restore only that game from the backup copy. See what happens. If it doesn't work twice in a row you are doing something wrong that isn't coming across in your description above.

Btw - the reason I say only back up only that specific game is because you may have multiple games going on. Suppose you have two games on different maps, game1 and game2. Something goes wrong in game 1, and want to restore it. You copy over the entire save folder and....you have just overwritten all your progress in game 2 also.

I think this solves it. I didnt save the "saves" i saved the world it looks like. I made a nitrogen map and named it the same as my game. that makes sense now I was trying to load just the world not the save game

1 level deep instead of two

i just rebuilt everything up to where i was best i could. now to figure out how to get back to my previous level

just tested your suggestion by changing the name within the save folder and relaunching. works like a charm thank you very much
