Question about a Wastelander book: Coffin Looting one.
I found a book that I read that said something about "how to get gems, jewels, etc from coffins". My question is do I CHOP the coffin to get it, or do I just loot it? I've been looting and it seems all these dead people in game were just buried with ammo. xD

Thanks for the help.

There may not be much player data on some of these books. I'd loot like a poi with several then chop them up. From chopping the "gems" might come from gold inlays or whatever

Best way to test it:

Start a RWG world or even a game in Navezgane - enable God Mode, Disable zombies if you want, enable the use of the creative menu.

Next - Find a place with 10 or so Coffins (Like the Amigone or in RWG the Notre-Dame like Cathedral). Loot them once without the book.

Get away from this chunk - through the DM menu when pressing Esc - advance the days to the number of days the loot should respawn. Give yourself the book. return to the location. The coffins should have refreshed their loot. Loot them.

You can redo this and then attempt to "harvest" / "destroy" the coffins and see which gives what results.

It;s when you hit it and go to break it. From xml

<drop event="Harvest" name="resourceBone" prob=".05" count="1,4" tag="WasteTreasuresCoffinHarvest"/>
<drop event="Harvest" name="resourceRawDiamond" prob=".05" count="1" tag="WasteTreasuresCoffinHarvest"/>
<drop event="Harvest" name="resourceSilverNugget" prob=".05" count="1" tag="WasteTreasuresCoffinHarvest"/>
<drop event="Harvest" name="resourceGoldNugget" prob=".05" count="1" tag="WasteTreasuresCoffinHarvest"/>

So while hitting it you have a VERY low chance to get stuff. Note you don't need to break it, just hit it to close to breaking.

I wonder if you can loot it, almost break it, repair it, wait for loot reset and then repeat?

it has nothing to do with looting it at all, the harvest event is from damaging an item.

You misunderstand me. I'm saying what if I damage it after looting, then repair it, then wait until loot resets to see if it resets the harvesting mechanism to try it again.

Looting has nothing to do with harvesting. So it doesn't matter if you damage it before or after looting/. Unless your asking if loot resetting repairs the durability of the loot container which i've never tried before to be honest.

Yeah kind of what I was hinting at. Might be something worth testing out. If you happen to test it please let me know the results. I would greatly appreciate it.

Loot reset won't repair something. It'll have the same durability you left it with.

If you can even repair it, which I doubt you can(Somehow I expect it to be on the list of non-repairable items for this exact reason), You'd be able to just harvest it down to almost broken, then repair it, and immediately harvest it again, continuing to hope you get lucky. No need to wait for loot respawn as it's an entirely separate system that only affects the inventory of the block, not the block itself.

Time to test the hypothesis though.
