Dedicated server on DigitalOcean vs PC
We just started playing on 7D2D as a group (3-5 players), but the person who is hosting is running on a 2017 MBP with 16GB.

I have:

Ryzen 5 3600
16 GB RAM
WD Blue SSD
Connection speed average (36Mb/s)

I also set up a dedicated server on DigitalOcean with 4GB RAM using LGSM and it ran fine while testing it with only me on the server. Would it be better hosting it on my PC or using a DO droplet?

Cheers!

4GB RAM might support 2 people without mods, but not much more. Min spec is 8GB. 16-32GB is recommended.

As far as PC specs go, that would be fine running Debian/Mint/Ubuntu and LGSM. The issue is going to be your connection speed. For a dedicated server you will want a minimum of 10Mbps upload. I mean you can probably get away with 5Mbps if you only have a few players and they aren't all downloading the map at the same time. If it's just your group of 3.5 people I'd recommend 7Mbps based on experience. That's just upload bandwidth. Download will naturally be higher than that.
