Controller issue

Lately (likely since the last update) I've been having an issue with my controller. I use an Xbox Pro controller, as I always have before. But recently, it's been basically useless at random times. Sometimes I'll boot up the game and it'll work fine for a little while, but then it will completely stop recognizing inputs. Sometimes, I'll boot the game and it won't recognize inputs even at the main menu. When I say recognize inputs, I specifically mean that when I move the stick (to move the cursor) it only moves over a few pixels at a time, no matter how far I move the stick or how long I hold it. The shoulder buttons seem to work in the main menu, for cycling through the list of recent updates. It's only this game. The controller works perfectly fine in any other game. It also acts this way whether I'm using in-game controller support or Steam controller support. Any ideas on how to fix this??
