It would be easy to test - shut down 7DTD and Steam (and the dedicated server if you're running that on the computer in question), unplug the USB dongle for it, then re-launch everything.
Whether or not this would affect the zombies freezing/unfreezing I don't know. It's a very strange symptom. But an easy test to rule it out.
The quoted solution was for zombies and animals that do not move whatsoever.
This user clearly described a problem I have seen quite often in game myself. I saw this in the 9.X and 10.X alphas.
Imagine a horde running at you in the night. And suddenly just as they get near you, they stop.
They just stand there and stare at you. If you get near them, they will start moving again. Some just stop moving again if you run away.
If they are stopped and you head shot them. Sometimes they fall sometimes they don't.
As you approach them to loot them you suddenly see a huge splash of blood and if they didn't fall earlier they usually do at this point.
it's quite annoying.
I'm not a developer - don't misconstrue what I suggest as official tech support. All my time out here is volunteered. And given that USB devices (microphones specifically) have been the cause of microstutter and timing issues in the past, it is just one more thing to try and rule out when troubleshooting, especially with co-op games.
Guess you've seen it now.
