Possible glitch/issue with zombie horde spawning during a mission
So, first off I want to apologize ahead of time, I'm a wordy guy so this may be a long post. But I want to make sure I'm describing what happened in as much detail as possible.
My friends and I set up a 8 person server to try out the MP aspect of the game. So far we are enjoying it, but we've had a goofy thing happen twice now. During a mission in an instanced house/business we've had a zombie horde appear out of thin air basically and overrun us completely.
I want to preface this with saying both instances of this horde appearing seemed to have happened in the same town area, but two totally separate buildings/missions. The first time there were 3 of us online, but only 2 in a group. We were completing a 6 star warehouse mission for one of the traders in the blasted lands. We had completely cleared the warehouse with relatively little issues at all. We all work pretty well together. Anyways, as we climbed up out of the hole in the ground and there was an unmarked zombie standing there (it was a clear mission and we had been given the all clear) As soon as my buddy opened fire on the zombie, he pulled a huge swarm of zombies. He said he has the server values set at 64 zombies max, and I'm pretty sure there were many many more zombies than that. He basically had to kite this magic horde of zombies for a few mins, enough to let me get to my motorbike and get away. I then had to go back into the area on my motorbike and pull the horde off him so he could hop on his bike and get away. This time we were able to get away, but again, to recap, we had been given the all clear, but there was a zombie standing right on the exit of the space, but we were still within the actual building perimeter. The horde had all kinds of irradiated, and cops, ect. And again, way more than the 64 it was set on.
The second instance happened just down the road, but a few days later. Same type of thing, except this time we had our 3rd friend online and he was in our group, but he was not with us on the mission. We had already completed a few tier 5, level 6 missions with no issues. Again, it was a clear mission and we had been given the all clear. Upon exiting the warehouse we were clearing I encountered a screamer zombie. I took her out with my silenced pistol before she could scream, but it didn't matter. Within seconds I was completely overrun with the same type of massive horde that I mentioned above. It was way beyond the max set of 64, And I burned thru at least 500 rounds of 7.62 ammo and didn't even put a dent in the horde. They ended up killing me once, and then switched over to my buddy and he kited them around till I could get on my motorbike and pull them off him again just like before.
I initially thought it could've been because our 3rd friend wasn't with us but in group, but my 1 pal streams and reviewed the stream and saw the third guy wasn't online when the first horde appeared. Its also important to note this was NOT on a blood moon day, it was NOT at night, it was broad daylight, like 2pm on both days.
I do want to apologize if this has been covered in another thread. I've been playing this game for years and really enjoy the changes that have been made, our group has a blast playing together in this sandbox, but it seems like there is definitely some kind of issue with hordes appearing at the max level missions. I can also go back and see if there is a town name for where we were or not, if that was needed but I don't think it was a town with a trader actually in it.
Thank you!

a) It is 64 per player, not at once 2) there is almost always more than one screamer 3) you are in the wasteland. I imagine you are making alot of heat and attracting zombies from all over
Sounds like you had screamers in the area, and they were detecting you.

So they screamed, and screamed, and screamed and made a mini-horde. They summon zombies out of thin air when they scream. And it's possible for them to summon randomly _more_ screamers, and those new screamers start screaming. So it can go full nuclear pretty fast.

I had a trio of them screaming at me in a mission last night, and I didn't hear them (had the volume turned down realllllly low in real life). I had probably north of 2 dozen+ zombies around the POI. Maybe more. I didn't stop to count them. The back of the POI had a pile so packed together that some zombies were standing on top of other's heads, and they had reached the second floor of the building.
New player, Meet Screamer. :bummer:

I appreciate the responses everyone, but, I'm not a new player lol. Most of my playtime was on the old .8 game before the major updates, and im definitely familiar with the screamers. Also, the second time there wasn't a screamer at all, at least not initially, there was just a massive horde of zombies and they kept pouring out of the building we had literally just got the all clear from, which is why I thought i was some form of a bug. my buddy even found a big group of zombies on the roof of the building we were clearing. Like 50 of em. Nothin screaming, they just appeared on the roof, again, after we got the all clear.
Also , only the poi is instanced , once you get to the edge of that poi if a Z march happens to stroll by and hears you..well , game on heh. Since when a zombie detects you everything in the area now knows where you're at.

I'd bet this is more likely the case.

I understand what you mean and its possible that happened the second time. But the first time it most certainly did not. we were still on the poi, just trying to exit.
Its also worth noting we are on day 40ish, so we are pretty well armed at this point and certainly not helpless.
