(personally, playing EFT mod as well, along with Bdubs' vehicles, working fine. not on a cloned version though)
Completely delete your mods folder. ( including harmony)
uninstall 7dtd
reinstall 7dtd
verify file integrity x 2 just to make sure you have a complete clean copy.
install 7dtd mod launcher
install escape from tarkov through the mod launcher. it automatically requires you to install a cloned copy of 7dtd to put the mod files into. just make sure that the version of 7dtd that you have installed is the version that the mod you are downloading requires
I would suspect you are not correctly unzipping and placing the mod folders, but without real information it is hard to say.
Going to move this to the proper forum section for support. There are Pinned threads with information that can help you, and instructions on how to report an issue so you can get help appropriately.
I have followed so many guides and still unable to get it working.
I have tried the mod launcher, and I am not really sure what it's doing (it seems to be downloading the mod to its own folder in C:\7D2D but it doesn't automatically clone my 7D2D install).
If anyone is able to give me specific instructions, I'd really appreciate it.
I can also give you the exact steps I am taking, one at a time, if needed.
I understand that. The importance of launching from the launcher the first time is to ensure EAC is off, which many mods require. This is also launched from the launcher exe in the game folder, where the game exe can also be found.
Tank you for this. I will give this a try. Do you know if uninstalling the game through steam automatically deletes your saves from %AppData%? I have this backed up in case, but good to know.
Also, can you please be more specific with the steps to follow with mod launcher? This time I was just trying to install the mod manually.
Again, thanks so much for your help.
With the mod launcher, make sure you are using the newest version, which is 7D2DModlauncher 5.3.0.0
Open the mod launcher
click install new mod
choose your mod from the list
click "install"
the upper choice is "select a game copy to play this mod" followed by a drop down menu. choose the appropriate choice and click "clone". the appropriate choice for me is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\common\7 Days to Die [v1.4]
Once it is done cloning, your mod downloads automatically.
After that is done, you will have a play button to click. The next time you open the mod launcher, the mods you have installed will be listed on the left
You can have as many different overhauls installed as your computer has room for, which will be installled over their own copy of 7dtd.
To install a mod that requires a different version of 7dtd, i always switch my steam copy to that version first, then my choice of which version to clone is always the same, whatever version i currently have installed on steam. I then change my steam version to the current stable again.
So your steam version will always be a clean copy of the current version of the game. You launch overhauls through the mod launcher, which keeps a separate copy of the game just for that mod. and you can have a current version vanilla game you play through steam, a current version of escape from tarkov you launch through the mod launcher, a separate a20 undead legacy version through the mod launcher, etc.
If you want to add separate modlets to your steam version, wiat until you install all of the mods you want through the mod launcher before adding to or changing your steam version in any way. once you have completed installing your overhauls, you can dirty up your steam version with all the modlets and xml edits you want. But to install your overhauls, start with a fresh, clean install of 7dtd as directed in my previous post.
