beta 1.4 update issue
I've had 7dtd manually set at beta 1.0 in steam for some time now, simply to avoid steam auto updates so i can play on my friends private server. Just opened steam today to find that the beta 1.4 has been auto downloaded and installed. when i select beta's in steam, its now set to "none" (which means its the latest version) instead of 1.0. my friend has the same issue and we can now no longer play on our current save as the mods on our server require 1.0. We also no longer have the option to select the 1.0 beta in steam. This is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

1.4 is still an experimental update. I'm also on "none" and still on 1.3

No idea what happened to you.
Ok, i must also be on 1.3 then. which is still strange, since the whole point of setting the beta in steam is meant to stop the game updating. do you mind checking your beta list in steam to see if you have the option to select 1.0 ?

I have 1.1, 1.2, 1.3. No 1.0.
And this is why you always keep a copy of whatever beta version you're really fond of, in a separate location.

I've noticed two things lately:
---Steam keeps resetting my cloud and "start steam showing this window" and game update options back to their default (on/Store/always) lately, again. Whenever I hard-exit the client/reopen it. This has happened before, and it's annoying.
---so because of this, my version of 7 Days was also "must update!". I let it update, then copied my copy of 1.0/b333 back. Works fine, even tho Steam says it's 1.1 or 1.4 or whatever. I've done this before. Fooled ya, Steam, haha.

---Version 1.0 no longer seems to be in the beta list. This could be because of an upcoming beta release and perhaps (seems like I've read this somewhere, but don't quote me) there is a limit to how many "betas" can be in that list, hence they dropped one of the 1.0 - the oldest - in prep. Some other very old betas aren't available anymore, either, perhaps for the same reason.

Anyway, if you didn't back up your version so you can copy it back, it's probably gone. I don't know if the copy older version back/play from older version install (like click on .exe vs. Steam play) would work re: MP with your friend tho - I only play SP/Offline

Edit: it wouldn't surprise me if after the next big update the beta list may drop another 1.x version before long. EDITEDIT: or it's just Steam being Steam, or a combo of both, or ... :P

thanks for the insight. that's a good idea to backup the steam install. Time for a server reset, the silver lining is we can now try some newer mods that need 1.1+
