I observed some things. The camera tilts before the first-person aiming animation starts. The pistol, SMG and sniper rifle all tilted to the same spot, while the crossbow tilted to a different spot entirely. To make it clear; the camera tilts when aiming. Returning to crosshair mode, rectifies the camera, until you aim again with any weapon. Fidgeting a bit back and forth between weapons/tools eventually resolves the problem.
It must be something related to either the reload animation, the aiming animation or hunger/thirst animations, as these are the only ones that affect the camera this way. Probably some initialization that is skipped.
(On a side note; Apart from the glitch I describe, I noticed that shooting with the crossbow using only the crosshair, the arrow misses it's mark. Also, the crossbow animation starts with the bow in a horizontal position.)
In the end I fixed it by simply exiting and reloading my game(SP)
