Yup same issue cant open backpack or see character screen. I get the screen error in the console.

Same problem here, when I try to access the Character tab, console pops up with the 'Index Array out of range' exception.

Tried with new player profile on a new world, tried verifying integrity of game cache, reinstalling, but no luck so far. :sad_creep:

Solution: Delete your old character profile. The character elements were updated and the old original character does not have the same data (model and personalization). Delete your profile and make a new character and you can access the character screen after that.

Also having a problem with opening the character tab..hopefully a fix is found or funpimps releases a hotfix within the next couple of days..which is usually what they do..but this is really hindering the game..cant upgrade any skills

Mine works fine, even loaded an old profile, and just started a new random gen... Have had no issues relating to UI...

I did not even do a clean install, just updated and played... Maybe it is your system, what Os are you guys running? 8.1 myself, and it is not really game friendly.

I has facial hair on my char, so it is a possibility.

Okay, so some guy in another thread said the issue was linked to having No Facial Hair.

I edited my character and gave him a moustache and now the error is gone. What the heck?
You guys should try this and see if it works for you.

EDIT: I previously tried reinstalling, deleting old save data, etc. and nothing else worked aside from this.

deleting the 7daystodie folder in appdata folder fixed the problem for me
Majdus Dec 12, 2015 @ 7:16pm
I tried to delete save in %appadata% location and work only for while.

I wiped and overwrote my profile and deleted all the old maps in the game and it worked fine for me. Best fix I found.
