Im in my friend's party, but I cant place land claim

I've been the only one playing on my friend and I's world lately, and have made lots of progress. I want to move my workstations to another part of the house but I cant pick them up, or place a land claim block to do so. I just get a red outline. Im assuming this is because my friend already has a land claim block in the house, but if thats the case and im in his allied party.... why cant I made edits to the house??

Disclaimer: I don't play multiplayer. I just read (way) too many websites...

First, you can not overlap Land Claim Blocks, even in Multiplayer.

You "should" be able to manipulate the base (including picking up your workstations), but
only if you and friend have allied with each other (and the other one confirms the request).

If they haven't played for a while, the friend/ally request may have expired.

Your choices are:
* Destroy his Land Claim Block, and place your own (easiest)

* Wait for his Land Claim Block to Expire (the duration depends on the server settings)
* Get his worthless butt back into the game to re-confirm your party allegiance again.
And, Test it while you still have his attention...
