Can't load saved games

Currently having a pretty strange problem.

I am able to load normally into a new game and play fine. However, when I leave and come back the world stays the same but my profile gets completely reset.

I have checked the saves folder in appdata and all information is still there.
I have tried to load onto the world with different profiles and still nothing.

What am I missing?

After research it appears like I'm the only person having this issue.

I got the game last week and I played in Alpha 21 - I kept resetting the game anyway so the bug/issue didn't really bother me as I expected 1.0 to work fine but the issue persists and I'm currently not seeing a point in playing anymore...

Anyone got any ideas?

Few more details-
The save file doesn't appear corrupted, when i want to leave the game I press "Quit" and then "Quit" again in the main menu so I'm not forcing the game to close.

A new thing that I just tested -
Created a new world, played for an hour, had a bedroll and everything then quit and turned the game off. Turned game on again, pressed continue and boom reset again. So I collected some grass and quit again (this time without quitting the game itself) and just pressed continue to return to a new reset again.

It appears like my player profile is not being saved at all

Something similar is happening to me as well. I can log in and start new worlds, but if I log off and log back in, I get a splash screen that seems to be checking files--it's weird and no one seems to have heard of it. I wish you luck in your fix!

same isssue, just returning to it after i dunno how many years, started a new game played for like 15 hours or so and quit, went to restart it and only option is new game

You can't continue from a save file created with A21 while using 1.0.

You should always start with fully fresh copy of the game between each major update. This means doing more than just reinstalling or updating the game through steam.
