EAC trying to connect to EOS - Can you remove that "necessity" for players not wanting their data sent to Epic ?
Hello Devs, I have found with disapointment that your implementation of EAC call for a forced login at EOS as the log from the game show.

INF [EOS] Login
WRN [EOS] [LogHttp - Warning] 00000246572DEF30: invalid HTTP response code received. URL: https://api.epicgames.dev/sdk/v1/default?platformId=WIN, HTTP code: 0, content length: 0, actual payload size: 0
WRN [EOS] [LogHttp - Warning] 00000246572DEF30: request failed, libcurl error: 7 (Couldn't connect to server)

I can play to other games that have EAC in them. No issue there. But for your game, I am stuck at the loading screen. No warning that the EOS service can't be connected, no warning that tell me why the game is unable to start. I waited some 10+ minutes before killing the process twice before going to search what could be causing the issue. Found out where the logs are, and took a look and had the bad surprise to see that EAC try to "call back home". And that's something I am not going to let happen.

Right now my HOST file is set to prevent any call back to the EOS services by any games. And I play at games that have EAC without problems. In fact 7 days to die is the first game that cause me an issue like that.

So here I am, and I report this as a BUG, as there is no reason why EAC should have to call back home and send any data from MY computer to THEIR services.

And I think the reasons why I don't want EOS or anything from their services communicating with my computer are easily explained by all that was exposed in the recent trials lost by Epic and the revelation given by the Exploration part of it.

So, I hope something can be done, as for now I can't play a game I bought pretty long ago, and can't join some of my friends who invited me to play with them on a private server that was set with EAC (some peoples clearly don't know they should avoid those things when setting servers with friends...)

Just open the 'Platform.cfg' file and delete the 'EOS' at the end of line 'CrossPlatform=___' then save it. EAC and Game analytics is turned off by using the 7d2d launcher.exe of course. And, yes....then you're limited on who's server you might be able to join. But, your issue is most likely with the EOS check.

@Mardoin69

yes it is, actually after a couple more tries and waiting longer I ended up having a warning telling me that EAC can't connect to EOS and I had a box with 3 options. First "retry", second "play offline" that was grayed and unclickable and third "quit game".

I made a test. Removed the specific line in the HOST file that point at api.epicgames.dev (so litteraly giving Epic Games an open door to get datas) and I got connected and reached 7 days to Die menu in a matter of seconds.

So right now, to play a game I bought years ago, I am forced to have let a company I don't want to hear about have an access inside my computer. And that's not what I paid for when I bought 7 days to die.

That's why I consider that the devs of 7 days to die should provide a way to play the game without the need to be connected at EOS at all for the EAC, or consider a change in their Anti-Cheat software.
