Too many zombies in wasteland in 1.0 experimental
1:47AM of Day 2 in-game, I'm on my third quest, and I can't get into the POI because there is a literal nonstop stream of feral (orange eye) zombies coming at me. Like there's always at least 3 new ones headed towards me so I just end up running in a circle shooting and stabbing them and I can't proceed forward with the POI quest. I even backed out of the game to lower the difficulty and even when I'm killing them in 1-2 hits it's still nonstop and I am still stuck just constantly killing feral zombies like it's the blood moon already.

I'm just gonna start over and stay in the pine forest biome I guess, but that feels lame and also means I have to deal with Trader Rekt's voice lines.

I like a challenge but I don't think it's usually worth hanging out in there, questing and whatnot

I don't think this is a 1.0 thing. It gets like that normally.

Although... It would be worse now because of buffed zombie HP. So that much would be new.

Weird, I guess I just never noticed it before. I was just trying to avoid Trader Rekt's annoying dialogue lines. Can I just turn off the voice lines? That would be great

It only happens in the wasteland, so you could avoid it and avoid Rekt by basing yourself in the burnt forest, desert or snow biomes. Or you could spend your days in the wasteland and your nights in a neighbouring biome.

I think that might still be a problem if your horde base is in the wasteland biome because you might enter the wasteland night time spawn rate after the horde ends. I'm not sure about that, though.

Maybe the snow biome? If you can survive in the wasteland you should be able to survive in the snow biome and it's the next biome down in terms of loot stage. Maybe take a point or two into the temperature resistance perks to avoid the frequent warnings about being cold.

The wasteland is the toughest biome by design, forest is the walk in the park.

If we could loot the WL in the second day, the game would be completely unbalanced.

Basically, you went into the end game zone and complain it's tough on day 2...

And don't forget that zombies respawn constantly in Wasteland. That's why it feels never-ending.

that sounds like the exact amount of zombies that SHOULD be in the wasteland lmao.

it's not the burned zone, it's the wasteland, aka the endgame locale.

starting there is asking for it.

That's not a 1.0 thing, that's a Wasteland at night thing that's been around for years. The night respawn rate in the Wasteland is something like 1 second so if you make noise at night you will pretty much always have the max zombie count after you, because by the time you kill 2 zombies the first one has already spawned in a replacement.

It can be a great way to farm exp or just keep the nights exciting because it lasts all night with no limit but if you don't like it your only option is to hide.

If you hide in the dark and quietly kill the 8 or so zombies that are after you, the new zombies who spawn in won't know where you are, so there is that.

You're close to daytime anyway (4am) at which time the respawn rate will drop to a minute or so, at least it did in the last couple versions.

Wasteland at night has a very high spawn rate in response to loud noises. Maybe it's even more so in A22, but it is also that way in A21. Firing an unsuppressed gun at night in the wasteland can easily result in a zombie spawn rate higher than the player's zombie kill rate.

You mention that you're shooting a lot and it's 1:47AM in the wasteland, so I think that's what's happening.

These are good suggestions, thank you.

I ended up moving to the closest large desert city. I avoided going directly to the snowy biome bc of the bears and mountain lions on day 1, whereas the desert just has heat and buzzards. The rampant availability of sand will be great for construction & yucca is everywhere. Honestly I think it's my new favorite biome, now that the pine forest biome can no longer generate large cities.
