Game freezes after different playing times
I have the problem that my game freezes after different playing times.
Could it be that 7 days freezes because of DirectX 12? This is the only thing I could find that doesn't match the game requirements.
I've already exhausted everything else and really don't know what to do anymore because the game still crashes in the form of this freeze and forces me to do a reset.
So I'm wondering if it could be due to DirectX 12.

1. Are you using mods? If yes, have you updated those mods?

2. What size map are you playing with?

3. What is "exhausted everything"? What have you actually tried?

---

I use DX12 and I have not once crashed playing 7DTD vanilla for A21.

1. No. I don't use any mods in this game.
2. 6144 x 6144 map
3. All necessary driver updates, game data repair via Steam, uninstall and reinstall the game, hardware compatibility checked, graphics settings in the game set from medium to minimum .

Could it be that the GPU or CPU oveheats?

You should check if the fans inside your computer are all clean maybe. This game is very intensive, especially on the CPU, so it may raise the temperature a lot, and if the fans are not at their best, it could cause overheating and freezing, or even crashing.

Then I can check straight away for thermal paste. it could be that it needs to be replaced.
Thank you.

In case Jost's suggestion doesn't work, as a test, does the game still freeze if you play on a 4k map?

As a further note, I find changing the graphic settings in the game barely changes overall performance of the game, at least for me. Some things like weather and water effects are very noticeable, but otherwise, minimal. Mind you, I think someone mentioned that 7DTD is CPU-focused based on how the game is rendered. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

To add to this. You can check your system log files - any hardware issue should have a warning or error in the system logs:

That might help identify the issue.

I opened my PC today and found a dust mouse nest. After cleaning up, checked for the thermal paste. There was so little left that I didn't even have to use a cleaner to remove the residue.
What does that tell us?? Throw out the dust mice once a month and renew the paste every few years.
Play maps on 4K? That works? My computer barely exceeds the minimum requirements of the game.

could you have meant this information?:
Running a Dedicated Server and Client on the same computer will double ram requirements. Also future releases may require more hard drive space.

Is below the system requirements.
